Got the new issue of motor trend, all i can say is wow. Man this car is gonna rule. I can't wait to see one in person, the look is so different than anything else coming out. I really like it.
could do without the blue seats
mad retro gauges. you can change the colors, cool stuff.

I saw this on one of the car shows on Spike tv... it was awesome. They were showing mostly the concept, which is 95% of what the production model would be, though it was a 2-seater with a lower stance. The Cobra version is going to have something like 550+ horses... And it's supposed to stay in the affordable price range. I would drive it in a minute.
yup my dad is drooling over that one too
then he'll have 2 mustangs the 96 SVT and that one mwahahahhaahahah
then he'll have 2 mustangs the 96 SVT and that one mwahahahhaahahahWelcome back to the GT500 and the GT300. It looks like Ford is finally capitalizing on the popularity of the car in Gone In 60 Seconds.
looks gay in my opinion ... there are a lot of cars now that seem to be going back in time with the looks ... (ie. bmw alphina, ford gt, etc)
Ford has gone the retro route which is unique and pretty cool. The guages can be changed to over 10 colors of your choice.
On a side note, Ford and GM are making a big comeback with cars. Some examples are the Ford Futura, GM Cobalt (direct competition to the Civic and any other Sport Compact Car). The colbalt replaces the 20 year old J-body Cavalier. It also has the option of a supercharger (totally cool)

I didn't like the Ford GT, or even most domestic cars for that matter but this car looks really really nice. Has the beefyness of late 60's/early 70's cars a la the charger. Definitely a step in the right direction.
The biggest mistake they made though was not releasing the Ford 49. Dangit that was one of the nicest designs ever.

I like the retro look. Are they going to get rid of that awful v6 they have in the cheap base model stangs out now?
Obviously the SVT will rule, but my problem with mustangs has always been that cheap v6 version.

i think the main reason the c6 will not release specs is because the mustang they want to make sure that the zo6 is faster.
the zo6 is expected to have 500 hp, to compete with the viper, i doubt the cobra will have that much power though cause they built the GT40 to compete in that class.
The GT has 310hp so the cobra will probably have 440?

Doesn't look too bad, but it looks like a poor attempt to make it look like the classic style.
2 ways I would own 1. .
a. I win it.
b. I'm driving a car that's quick enough to OWN it.

Looks like the new GTO is gonna have some competition!

Unfortunatley, no they're still gonna have a v6 version...Its gonna have different rims and bumpers and no fog lights in the grill like the gt...Motor Trend says its supposed to be over 200 hp for the v6 though....Originally posted by Jollysid

i like the concept front end. this production front end looks soo cheap
Cool car.. The late 60's mustang (which i guess they're trying to copy with this one) was always my fav look for a stang. Don't like the seats tho.
Things i would change:
The stripe...i just dont like it...id prefer a monotone color
The lights in the middle grille - Definetly gotta go, i never liked the round lights
AND last but not least, id need some more up to date aggressive looking rims...mabye some nice forged rims

Nice pics man...damn that car is so hot....wouldnt get the 6 cyl tho, GT for me all the way. I'm still gonna have a mustang one day. Its destiny, its gotta happen. Hehehe....
I like the short shifter, the dashand the foglights. But I hate the fact that they're still using the same stereo. It would be cool if you could put fuel through the rear. I wonder how the SVT,Saleen, and Rousche version's will look like. Oh and the convertible.
that has to be the cheapest looking fog light ever!
i like how some people are just looking for ways to put down the mustang but the new scion gets praise lol whatever.
yeah, I wish they didn't make the V6 version either, but it is marketing. Some people don't care about the speed or sound of the V8. They supposedly did some big time testing in exhaust note to make sure it was perfect, which is what GM did with the GTO exhaust. The dash colors are available in 140 colors, or that's what I heard from Autoweek. I love the foglights, but they could be smaller. It speaks heritage to me.

I'm a little torn about it's styling. If I wanted a car that looked old... I'd buy an old car. It would be cheaper and cooler to restore an old one anyway.
As a one time Mustang owner (88 GT with some mods) I think I'll have to wait until I see it in person. Then I'll make up my mind.

I still think it is a nice change, Ford did a really nice job reverting back to RETRO styling but still keeping the car up to date and looking fresh. I for one will actually think about getting one of these as my next ar if something happens to the civic, I like the looks of it.
I think it looks like the old school shelby...not exactily but some some...
