i want an 02 si
i dont know what has come over me but i want an 02 si for some reason.........i mean i prob wont get one but i really like them all of the sudden......what do the rest of yall ex , dx, lx , owners think of the new si's??
Not really feeling it. I had the option to get it when I bought my car but all I was looking for was a coupe, and the Si's looks were a bit too much for me. I don't regret the fact that I didn't get it.

I think one of the biggest gripes most people have concerning the overall look of the Si is the height. Drop the sucker a good 1.5" or more and they start to look much more sleek and streamlined. Slap some lightweight 17s on there, tint the windows, and they ALL look good.
Had I known how good they would have looked like that before buying the 02 coupe, I would have probably ended up with a nice Si instead.
And civicvtec1ps is totally right about the shifter. Try it for about 10 minutes, and it feels totally natural. You start to forget that it's mounted to the dash.

So does the shifter go forward and backward like a traditional one, or does it go more up and down since it's dash mounted?

Despite the way the shifter in the Si is mounted, it behaves just like a traditional gear shifter.
I don't really like the SI, it doesnt look that good, I just havent been a fan of hatchbacks. Also I don't like the engine, it seems to be too environmentally friendly. The old SI had the same HP with a 1.6 liter, and the new SI is a 2.0 liter. I mean using that engine they should pull more like 200 hp like the RSX-S. I just don't feel it is that respectable.

Yeah, I tried 1 at the dealer and it's not bad compared to the other Civic models. At 1st, I was excited about the release of an Si especially an Si with a 2 Liter. But then it came out heavy and slower than the old Si with a softer suspension. But I like the look, especially after a few external mods. I have been a fan of hatchback Civic's since the EF/CRX days.... so.... here they sell Si's for 16K before tax, etc....
The Si's are more than 16K. They start at 19K. I would look into getting a 2000 SI before the new Si. The 2000 looked better, and to me is worth the money, where the new Si isnt. I mean its still a 2.0 liter with only 160 hp. Compare it to all other 2.0 liters, and it is by far the most de-tuned
They have really grown on me and am in the process of looking into buying one. They look crappy stock though so a nice drop, a kit and a set of rims and it should look pretty good.

I happen to like the new Si body style, but then again I also like the way the Element looks...
I've always loved the old civic hatchbacks and I was glad to see it again. They're surprisingly roomy inside and rally shifter is a lot of fun to drive with.

I owned a 02 SI for about 7 months. It was a fun car and responded well to mods. But after owning it for a while I started to dislike it. I got tires of the shifter and I started to hate the look of the body. I ended up missing my 01 EX coupe, so thats why I got a 03 EX coupe. The car was a little bit faster than my EX and it sounded damn good with a CAI, but over all I realized it wasn't for me. But the cool thing is that I paid $15,900 new and when I traded it in, I got $14,500 for it. So over 7 months I only lost $1200. Thats another reason I was quick to get rid of it cause of the good deal I was offered for it.

Last summer my dad really wanted me to get the Si instead of an Ex, but I just wasn't digging the body style, and I still don't. I had test drove one a couple months ago also. I like the interior a lot, I would leave it stock if I owned one. I really didn't feel a difference in the Si and mine in speed, but it should probablly be faster. I wouldn't trade in a Ex for an Si, it would be a waste of money. If you really want to upgrade get a Type-S or a V6 Accord. An Si wouldn't be much of an upgrade.
yeah i almost broght the new si.. it but looking at it, was just like me wanting to buy a ford focus SVT.. and that's not going to happen.. it looks so terrible being in a hatchback form... now that '00 si is the ****.. it looks good driving.. and hella faster.. that is the ultimate civic.. but when i was getting mine.. it wasn't a civic in this area that was buyable, casue they were all gone off used car lots, with waiting lists for any of them comming in.. if u have a '00 civic si.. then keep it while u can, casue it's a ton of people waiting for that car.

Yukonart said it best when he said, "the biggest gripe about the new si is the height".... lower it and its a completely diff car. i personally like them but my freinds really dont. they always see stock ones(that look like ****) around town and say they hate em. i tell them its just cuz thier stock but they never believe me, they all think the focus looks 10x better. the new hatch is a more import tuner type look, real jdm i think. i like how its all short and stubby.
moving on to the performance part... most guys say, "oh its not as fast as the old si blah blah its weak". the thing they dont realize is that its a newer vehical, theyre made more like american cars from the factory(real restrictive). this means that the basic boltons will do much more than the 1.6 ever would. thats the difference and thats why its better. unlike the b-series egine that came suped up from the facory already. this is where most guys get the misconception.
as far as future modding and rsx's..... how about u swap the head on the si and make more power than them all. 177 to the wheels
