my experiance at jiffy lube
Well i was in desperate need of an oil change and i had some free time so i went out looking for a place that would do it. After going to all the places by me and them all saying no because my exhaust and car was to low, i headed for jiffy lube. At first it seemed like it was going to be another no, but than they decided to try something, as i was going to pull in they were going to lift up the front part of the body by hand from the wheel wells. to my surprise it worked, no stractching or nothing, so they changed my oil.
Then i went to get my car out and everything possibl went wrong. We went to get the car out the same way by lifting up the front, but as i was pulling foward the front clamp on my exhaust got caught on the 'gated' front where the change the oil. then as we tried to get it unstuck, the exhaust got pushed back and sort of took my back bumper with it on the passenger side. at this time the guys go downstairs and get under my car and undo my exhaust, i unscrew my backbumber, put it into place and screw it in.
after about 20 min one of the guysstarts pulling down on the back of my exhaust, which lifts the front part of it up high enough to back the car up. now after the guys get new clamps for the exhaust, put the exhaust back on we tried backing it out the same way i pulled in and thank god that worked. My 15 min oil change turned into over a 1 hour project.
i guess now i should learn how to change my own oil;

You should learn how to do it yourself if the car is so low. Most places won't touch it anyway because of liability. At least you made out okay.
Jiffy Lube always seems to screw up when I try them. I took it there last week because I needed a change and had no time. Dropped it off, I was in and out in 15min. Good deal right? No, look at the invoice later and they only put 3 quarts of oil in, and when I went to check my oil they didn't even screw the oil cap in all the way and there was oil all over my valve cover.....I hate those guys.

yup, never go to jiffy lube. where i live jiffy lube employs these kids that have no experience or are too young to drive.
when i brought in my old car they over tightened my drain plug and stripped the threads cuz they put the bolt in crooked.
then when my friend went there with his caddallic, they drove it off the ramp things that they do the oil changes on.

lease: And if you think you'll be able to do better at home, consider this...
How are you gonna get underneath it to unscrew the plug or change the filter? It is lowered after all. You think it'll go up ramps? Wrong. I have a set of ramps and even my unlowered civic can't get up them without some helper boards to make the angle less steep.
All I can say is good luck!

thats wierd because how they do oil changes out here its a pit at the place. They don't jack the car up or anything, you just drive it over this hole dug in the ground and they work on it like that .. you can even sit in your car while they do it.

what places have the inground thing where u drive upto, cuz i hate taking it to places cuz they always mess up. one place left some oil on my fender, stupid people and antoher scratched my kit on the bottom but u cant see it. its not even lowered either. when i do lower it, its gonna be a pain in the butt to get up. should i take it to a porcshe dealership to get it done? they always work with lowered cars. any ideas.
sucks for your muffler bro.. and like cryption said, we have wholes around here, you just drive up the little drive way about a 1 inch bump then over the little hill and park in the middle of the shop...
This is just another prime example of why some people called them "Iffy Lube."
They've caused permanent damage to a car I used to own, problems stripping out drain plugs on in-law cars and KNBC-4 in Los Angeles recently ran an investigative story that showed how "Iffy Lube" was trying to push unnecessary sales/service on people. They obtained an internal memo showing that each store is supposed to make $68 sales on each car.
Unless you just can't make it to Vegas to gamble, don't go there.

You should buy some tools to do it urself thats what I did recently. I asked a lot of places to do oil change and they said no cuz my car is lowered wit bodykit. So this one place that said yes put in the wrong crappy oil and filter on
. I was like thats it!!! Im gonna do it myself! All u need is a hydrolic floor jack and oil pan which shouldnt cost u more than $30.

I suppose it all depends upon how much time you're willing to watch oil trickle...

Yeah I change my own oil bc Ive gone to walmart to do it, and it takes FOR-EV-ER. It only takes me less than a hour to do everything. THe only thing I hate doing is jackin up the car. I have to jack up one side at a time, and that takes a while for me. Its a bigger pain when I rotate my tires. I think im gonna get some extra jackstands for that.
Yeah I heard this trick you do when you have a lowered car. You roll your car onto some pieces of wood which makes ur car higher off the ground, and then you can jack it up. In auto last yr this guy had a lowered supra and it wouldnt fit over the lift so we had to liftthe car up and put the lift arms in place.

You can wrap a piece of **** in tinfoil, tie bows at the ends, and call it a holiday Tootsie Roll, but it is still a piece of ****.

A n00b with good grammar is still a focking n00b.
lease: Get yourself laid or something, paisan...EDIT: I almost forgot...yeah, J-Lube DOES suck. My roommate used to work there. The still borns they hired got into all kinds of crazy, stupid kid ****. Hmm...let's see...a fire in the pits one time. Hmm...one time, this guy took his car in for the signature service or whatever, and his bike was still racked to the top. Well, this Josh kid, about 4 foot nothing, decides to take the shortcut way around to the front...through the car wash...with the bike still attached to the top. He guns it through, CRASH, bike is done for, whole roof of the car is all focked up.

I normally do it myself cause it makes me feel a little better when I try to maintain my baby by myself. The only time I had to take her in was when I had a CV boot problem, but that was covered under warranty. The next time I take her into a shop is when I drop the K20 in next year.
