So is the 2004 Civic the 8th Gen?

Since the front end has been redesigned along with the tails a little bit, would it be considered a new generation or still a 7th gen since it holds the same body shape and engine.

the 2003-2004 change is very similar to the fascia, headlight and taillight changes between the 1998 and 1999 civics. So it is still a 7th gen

Until the manufacturing plant is re-tooled for a new model, it is still the same generation. Honda will let you know when the Civic's redesign hits the street.

With each gen Civic, they do a facelift halfway through it's lifespan. The 04s are 7.5 gens, and we're halfway done with having new 7th gens at all.

It's not gonna be a new aftermarket, they share the same chassis base and engine as the 01-03 civics. The tranny, engine, chassis, and suspension are the same as 03. New headlights and updated tails hardly warrant a generation change. When the chassis code changes then it would be a new generation. I think in 05 we might see a new generation of civics. Hopefully with better motors than a D series.

actaully, on the street the 2004 civic looks very very similar to civic 01-03...

if you are not a owner of civic or not a fan of it, you probably won't even see the difference betwee them.

I kind of asked 10 people I know about it. 8/10 of them can't see the difference although for me the difference is big.

It's easy, folks

Until the chassis code changes, it's NOT a new gen.

personally the new facelift on the front end reminds me more of the last generation accord than anything. Or even the new Protege
