what type of respect are you looking for...
the "Wow that guy must have a really small ****" respect, or the "Dont look at him or he'll kick your ***" type.

Old beater cars/pickups. Chances are whoever's driving them doesn't have a lot of money, works hard for a living, and doesn't see the sense in blowing a ton of money on a fast-depreciating car. Also, if they wreck a $500 car, so long as they can walk away from the wreck they'll likely be in a new $500 car by the end of the week.
Of coarse its not the car that makes the person. The man makes the person. Think about the last time you saw some punk kid in a car. swerving in and out of lanes all the time and stuff like that. That person no matter what they drive gets less respect than someone that drives normal.
I treat a car as an extension of a persons personality.
besides who wouldn't give the most respect to the hot chick over the redneck calling your honda slow?

M3's
Whenever I am on expressway and I see one, the driver will drive around like he owns the son of a bitch. I have been cut off by one while I was in the 1st lane just so he could get off at his exit... wtf, pay attention. If you want to look cool, don't try and 'cause accidents. When you see M3 on the e-way it screams "move, bitch".

My reply to that Is my car is 17 thousand dollar car compaired to a gues of more than that... If he wants to take me out to get where hes going so be it. Same with those A-holes with F350's if one more revs at me i'm going to pull F&F and drive under the stupid thing.
fixed up higher-class cars... as in fixed up M5's, porsches... there's a house in my neighborhood that owns a fixed up m5, fixed up porsche, fixed up audi S4. all of them are really nicely done too... and they actually drive the cars like they're supposed to be driven..

Any old but nicely fixed up car. I totally re-did my 77 accord hatchback, and de-badged it. Totally cherry inside and out. Bone stock. I got more looks and comments on that than anything else.
I love older cars... just look at a restored vintage caddy.
I think older, clean, restored cars... that's where the respect is.
