Rep Power: 0 Is it me, or would it have been ten times better for them to have used a coupe? And if they wanted to save a helluva lot of money, they could've bought a dx save like a ton, and then have the whole car roughly be at 30 thou? Iono, I think HKS car looks crappy and it could've been helluva lot cheaper.

Rep Power: 457 I watched this episode on SpikeTV earlier and the Civic they tested is the AEM/HASport Civic. You know what that means - it's the K20 project that HASport worked on. No D17, so I don't think the test they did on the car can be considered a valid one.

i was disapointed that the road course time wasnt faster.
what is surprising is that the mini cooper had the fastest road course time out of the fwds by almost 2 full seconds, and it was one of the least powerful.
in fact the mini was as fast as all but 2 of the 4wd/rwd cars too.

Rep Power: 0 Let's talk about the actual price of that car in the Car and Driver test. I built it for somewhere between $12 - 14 thousand, including the price of the car. The price tag that Car and Driver posted was based on what it would cost to duplicate the car using a new car, paying full retail and paying someone to do the work.
If I had to build another one I could do it for around $17K.

Rep Power: 340 Brian, we went over this last time. If you're going to say you could build the car for $17,000, let them know it's a salvage title. People will read what you wrote and assume they can drive a brand new Civic off the lot for $15,000 and, with another $2,000, have that car.

Rep Power: 0 Theft recoveries can be had for around $4 to $6K. The other parts can be had for less than $12K. So if you already own a Civic, you could build the equivalent for around $10-12K
Anyone who assumes you could build the car for $17K including the price a new car should be called names and publically humiliated.

Rep Power: 0 Why the hell were the quarters so slow? I thought that with 350 hp the Civic could run 13s, maybe better, what the hell is that??? Its not worth it to me if all I'm going to be running is 14s, I'll take my 350Z instead in 5 years please...

Rep Power: 0 My guess is the car will do 12s on slicks. I'll buy 5 lug drag wheels after SEMA and make some runs.
If you put a lot of camber in the wheels to go fast in the road course, limit the type of tire to a typical street tire, and run the race on a clean section of pavement instead of a drag strip, the 60 foot times suffer greatly. Hence the less than impressive times. Since this was the first time we had participated
The car is rather heavy so you can't accelerate at full throttle in the first three gears, because it breaks the wheels loose.
If you look at the data on this link you'll see that on our final run which was the best, we hit 100mph in 12.87 seconds, but went through the 1/4mi. mark at 98.5 mph with a 14.26 e.t. There was a turn at the end of the 1/4 and our driver shut down before the end of the 1/4 to set up for the corner. Most likely that run would have resulted in a 13.XX second e.t. Chalk it up to inexperience, we will be ready next time.

Rep Power: 0 It sucks that the "inexperinced numbers" and the "not set up correctly" test results are what made it into the magazine.
When I read that article I was very dissapointed.
