Suave Civic RX

With the spectecular success of the original Civic RX Special Edition (where all 60 units were sold within a week of its launch), Honda Malaysia is looking at the feasibility of doing similar for the face-lifted 'Suave Civic'. This face-lifted version poses some rather unique problems of it own though. The concept of a Civic RX is for sportiness but with a beige coloured interior, this is going to be a tough job ! Nevertheless, Honda Malaysia has some new things to try and has presented their current ideas on the special KLIM edition Civic RX.


As I have discussed in my article on the face-lifted Civic launch, the front bumper already has an integrated lower lip and side skirts comes standard with the car. So Honda Malaysia completed the looks by adding the rear lower lip and the rear trunk lid spoiler, exactly as I was discussing in my article. Like the original Civic RX, the front headlights of this face-lifted Civic RX are also fitted with the headlight 'finishers'.

As discussed, a beige coloured interior is not going to look terribly sporty so Honda Malaysia just retained the original colour scheme and replaced the trimmings with beige coloured leather. The front seats however are very interesting - they are beige leather Recaro SR3 semi-buckets ! Sportiness can come with a touch of luxury ! The carpets are also 'RX' badged. For fans of car audio, the KLIM Civic RX is equipped with a Kenwood DVD head unit and also a sub-woofer.


Like the original Civic RX, the car also comes with the yellow spring/red shock Honda Access Sports Suspension. I was surprised to see this suspension on the car as earlier I was told by Honda Malaysia that they were facing a lot of problems trying to fit it on the face-lifted Civic. The mounting points are all different but obviously the problems have been resolved. The rims are those original fitted to the first Civic RX, the much sought after gunmetal painted 16" 'Civic Type-R' rims, this time fitted with 205/50R16 Dunlop SP9000 tyres.

Hmmm...my question is what does it have under the hood? Looks to be a standard sedan with nice seats.
