Anything you do to mod your vehicle will void that particular part of the factory warranty. I.E. if you lower your car, your suspension will likely be void. The only way for the dealer to tell you that they will not honor your warranty, is they have to prove that whatever aftermarket component you add was responsible for the particular defect at hand. In other words, you can mod your car, but be weary of your warranty at the dealer. If you lower your car, and your struts blow, which they likely will, then don't expect them to cover it, but if you lower your car, and your ignition system goes out, then don't let them try to tell you that it was due to aftermarket modification. Get it?

i don't know about anything on how to avoid voiding your warranty! ( did i say that right) but anywyas one of the first mods i would do is drop it first!! Give it a good drop first !!
Hmmm, I beg to differ. You should drop it yes, but you better know what you're doing in combination with the type of wheels and tires you will be running with your drop. So the most practical way to do it would be to drop it at the same time as getting a good set of wheels and tires unless you plan on running the stock steelies.
Also take into consideration what type of driving you plan on doing. I recommend Tein's setup because it is fully adjustable although pricey. It is worth the money. Consider whether you plan on having an every day driver, or maybe a cornering machine which is pretty much the best thing you can turn your civic into without heavily modifying a SWAPPED engine. Do some searching in the suspension department and you'll find some interesting topics.

That is the easiest thing to do, and least likely to void your warranty. I know that at my dealer they sell performance mufflers in the parts section. The most popular brands are DC Sports, Greddy, HKS, and Tanabe...I have the DC TCS myself...try searching...it's the button on the top of your browser...
Like I said, search and you shall find, but easy modifications are wheels and tires, an intake system, headers, mufflers, etc. If anything these mods will get you minimal gains. Why? because you drive a Honda, and worse yet, you drive a Honda meant even more so for fuel economy and efficiency. If you had a Honda with a B or K Series block it would be different, but you have a D series block which means it's basically a car meant for around town driving, and good fuel economy. If it's looks you're concerned with perhaps a clean body kit, maybe the OEM kit would suit you. Or upgrade your stereo. Search, Search, Search....
