just got back from acura
Earlier this week, I was looking at this white 03 rsx -s to trade for the civic. Well, the salesperson said that the car sustained front end damage during transit but he wasnt sure of the extent. I figured that i could get a pretty good deal on a car that had been damaged so i told him that I wanted to take it on the road later in the week. Today, I had a little time so I went up to drive the rsx and see if there was anyhting noticeable about the way it drives. He gave me the keys and I took it out to show my wife at work what the car looked like. The dealer said that the car had 17,000 miles on it but when I looked, the odometer read "000010". I thought that maybe the dash and ecu had been replaced and thought nothing of it. When I got back, the dealer said to me "that car has only 10 miles on it, I gave you the wrong car." I asked him what he meant because I remembered earlier that the wrecked one was the only one on the lot. He said that some guy bought the vehicle and took it home. He then put the car in the garage and a little while later, he decided to get an sti. He traded the car in with 10 miles and now the car is listed as a preowned. I thought that something didnt seem right because everything was still in plastic and the seats looked like they had never even been sat in. Well, to make a long story short....this guy's indecision is getting me a hell of a deal on a beautiful rsx. If all goes well tomorrow, Ill be the proud 2nd owner of this car. It drives great and even if something falls though and I dont get it, I had a blast on the "test drive" which lasted a couple of hours. The car feels sturdy and elegant, not as roomy as the tsx i drove on tues but i like it none the less. Now I got to take my system outta the civic and get ready to put it in the rsx.
anyone know if the stock cd/tape has rca out's?

Let us know how it goes tomorrow. That dealer is really confusing. He's probably confused himself.
And sorry, I'm not sure if the stock CD/Tape player has RCA outs. I haven't taken a look at it yet.

I would get the vin number and look up the car fax first. I would also bring it to a mechanic if possible to check if the car has frame damage or anything....The whole deal sounds a little fishy to me.
Also get the name of the dealership and goto www.bbb.org and check out their business. I wouldnt buy a car from that dealer, I would goto another one...The whole deal sounds a little fishy....Before you sign anything, cover yourself.....

yeah dealers are mother f*ckers... they do anything and everything to get you... I say take a look at the car and walk out. if they try to stop you or call you later with a better deal, then, start the negotiating. look up the used retail value. go armed with numbers printed out. it's a car your buying not a hotwheels...

ive already done all the calculations in which both parties are satisfied...or at least should be...i am rolling over some neg equity from the civic and the price of the car being listed as 22,500...450 a month is the max i will go. ( i know 450 sounds like a lot but i got a tad bit of neg equity (3200)) and that bring total financed with interest somewhere around 26,959.3 which would be 450 a month. Now with that deal, the dealer isnt making too much money if any so i dont know if they will do it. As far as the frame, my body has a shop and im gonna get him to check the frame. I was a mechanic for several years and i checked alot of the underbody for differing parts on the front end.....and body lines not matching...but couldnt find any discrepencies. Thats not saying that there were any.....but if i purchase the vehicle as a "never been wrecked" and find out it was wrecked....I think there could be some legal action taken...Ill see if he goes with my 450 deal cuz he quoted me 504 a month this morning and I walked. He stopped me at the door and asked me if 450 a month would make me buy the car.....I said "you make that offer and well see". hope it goes well cuz its a sweet car.

if the car was in transit, it may not of had a title till it arrived at the dealership, thus it will not be marked as damaged or have a bad title. Take it for a test drive to a well known mechanic have em put it on a lift and take a close look at it, making sure part #'s match up.
On a side note a coworker of mine bought a car for her kid, (very similar situation) and later found the car had been damaged and she was not told. Legally she had a very hard time getting another car from the dealership, but after a big hassel and legal fees she did get another car (used of course), but this time in good condition. Just make sure to check things out.

Just a heads up but 22,500 seems high, especially for an '03. Dealers in my area are all more than willing to sell '03 models at invoice 21,600 and below. You should most certainly get a lower selling price than that.
Otherwise, Club RSX has a groupbuy price negotiated with a dealer in NJ (I think, maybe NY) and RSX-S are selling for invoice. Which would again be lower than the fishy preowned white RSX-S mentioned.
Good luck.

yeah, you are all right about the car. The salesman that was "working" with me just told me last night that they can get me into it for 450 a month for an extended term (72 months)...I added it up in my calculator and it totals 32,400. I was F*CKING insulted!! I was ripping him left and right for like 20 minutes. All he could do was stutter about how he didnt know why the amount was so high and blamed the mistake on the "finance manager". I dont think I will ever refer anyone to this dealership. By the way, for people in central pa....this is York Apple acura and subaru on hwy 30. I wouldnt suggest going there for any reason because their second pitch was quite a bit higher than their first. I know its not the car that sucks, but its the dealer. It just sucks because now I have to go through the hassle of going like way out of my way to get the damn car. I think ill just hold out til next year when im level with my current finance.

DEALER ALWAYS make some money off u wether itz the car price, trade in or finance. they always make profit of the finance so dont go thinking dealer wont make money... even if car is sold at invoice. they still make profit
