05 civic body change or not?
probably not until 2006. Because they just 'restyled' the 2004 7th gen. It would be a waste for their molds that they just made and use at their factories.
The next 'redesigned' civic (the 8th gen) will probably not be out for a few more years yet.

2006 as long as Honda sticks with the same pattern.
Here's an explanation for you 2005 believers.
6th gens started in 1996. They kept the same exact body style til 1998. In 1999 they got a face lift that stuck til 2000. Then the 7th gens you all know and love arrived in 2001.
1996 - 1998 >> facelift 1999-2000
2001 - 2003 >> facelift 2004-2005
Hence students... the next generation should be here in the 2006 model year.

right there. Can you say "8th gen Si"??

LoL
by the way. 2001-2003 Civics aren't old. We have the 'Original' 7th gens. The people who buy the 'restyled' 7.5gen are the me-toos of me-toos. Of course 2001 Civic owners who bought their 7th gen in 2000 are the true originators.

I am thinking that from this point on, most honda cars will have the same type of style the new Accord has. Honda has changed car designers/engineers in the past year or two, the dude that is doing all the designing used to work for Saturn which is a division of General Motors.
As for power wise, it would be nice that all trim levels get the D17A SOHC VTEC, and you can have the option of chaning the engine to the current K20 series in the SiR(Si, US). As for options and creature comforts, a better designed arm rest would be nice, options to add to the sound system (eg factory subs, etc.... similar to the Focus SVT offers) more limited edition models (eg LX sport series, not sure if it was avaible in the US or not, or the Si Veloz) A bit more storage bays, lockable glove box with light.
But my biggest hope as mentioned above is the option to choose what engine goes in the car, it does not matter if it drives up the price. Like I always say, "you get what you pay for"

Cool, I hope they keep it for 05 model too.
I was planning to buy a new car when Civic is about to go to an older model... looks like I have another year or two before this happens. =)

Who knows what happens in 2 years, maybe Honda will give the Civic a more powerful engine with nice low and mid end torque. Or they might just keep the D series powerplant and give her a new radical design. One thing they should really bring back is the Double wishbone suspension, but since these Macpherson struts save more spaca and is cheaper to manufacture it will probally stay.
Something I have to say is, one HUGE reason I bought my 02' Si (EX in the US) Coupe was because of the styling. Inside and out its very clean and tastefully designed. I have a feeling honda is going to change the car in the next generation. Probably something more radical and "modern" looking by todays standards. I have a feeling I will not want it.
SO. With that said. I dont see myself even wanting to get the new one when it comes out. I like what I currently own. It fits me just right.
