I was bored, so being the pic-master that I am, I took some pics for discussion.
First up, we have a great pic showing the old and new civics. You can really see the dramatic differences. The old one kinda looks homely with the old style grill and amber blinkers.
Now, we have a pic of my oem coupe grill and the new coupe grill. I poked and prodded on the black honeycomb part to see if it's separate from the painted section. I honestly couldn't tell, but I'll guess that the painted section is not on the same piece as the black grill. I did notice that the painted section is NOT part of the front mask. And, after comparing pics, I can't tell if it's interchangeable or not. Somebody will just have to try it and give us the results. I also put a pic of the altezza ebay grill for comparison.
And finally, I put on a chrome tip from Advance auto today for less than $10 and thought I'd share the idea for those who don't want to put on an exhaust, but might want to dress up the tip.

BTW, there's no DX coupe, according to Honda's website. The HX is the bottom model now. There is, however, a DX sedan.
It's strange, don't you think, that they'd offer the CVT transmission on the coupe only? Why wouldn't you offer it in the "family sedan?" I mean, it is for economy, right?

The CVT tranny is supposed to be really good. My friend had it on a 6th gen coupe and it could beat an auto anyday. Infinite gears and instant shifting, not to mention staying near redline all the time for extra power.

Is the CVT tranny the one Audi came up with?
That's kinda nice. Someone told me those trannys are as fast as the manuals.

There are somethings that I like about it. . Others I don't. . Same for all Civics though. . There are things I like about mine that I don't like about the previous models, and so on and so forth. I would have to see it in person too to get a better judgement.
The refreshening of the front end of the Civic looks good. I went to a dealer last night and parked my 03 sedan next to an 04. The 04 front end looks better, period.
Has anyone tried to remove the chrome strip that's on the edge of the hood on 01-03 sedans? I like the fact that the 04's do not have that anymore. But, I'm wondering if the 04's will suffer more from stone chips because this trim is now missing?

I like the new coupe grill. I think I'm going to buy one from Hondaautomotiveparts.com, and cut the colored lip off and cut the mesh off my euro grill and put the 04's mesh on my euro lip. I love that honeycomb style and the H emblem doesn't look so bad.
All in all, I'd say it wasn't so much of an improvement. It really didn't look any better. I once wanted to do a hybrid bumper swap, but I don't feel like it now that the news have it stock. Honda is even advertising it as 'restyled' and NOT 'redesigned', hence it's still the 7th gen. I'm glad they did that.
As of now there's already a whole mess of 7th gens in my town and it makes me sad when there's 3 of us at a light and the other drivers don't even want to talk. At least the original 7th gen look will be preserved and not over played. Hoorah for Honda! Huzzah! Huzzah!

I finally got to see one in person at this past weekends Import Expo in Houston. I saw a blue coupe that had some bronze wheels on it... It looked real nice... I really like the face lift. The one thing I want to take from the new civic is the redesigned tail lights...........

oh yeah! You're right! I remember staring out the family room window and looking at my car on the street. I would think "ewww it's wierd". Not ugly, but wierd. Probably one of the reasons I bought it. It's new, perfect for the commuter life that I am living now, and no one had it yet. Joined: Sep 2002

I think the older style 01-02 7th gens will look better when modded. The newer civics are getting to the point where they look like regular cars that shouldn't be changed.

but I like the missing teeth look
