gettin a "new" car! which one?
ok, i have 8,500 bucks finally saved up. i was going to swap + turbo (i was flip-flopping on this for a while.) then i though, fvck screw it,ill get a normal car for driving around and a racing car, its smarter to do that f up my ride. so now im thinking about gettin me a car. Not, i repeat NOT AN RSX, overrated they are. i was thinking of a crx or a del sol, but thay are sellin those damn things for way too much than they are worth. i dont want a brand spanking new car, rather an older model fast car, im open to any manufacturer.
I'm looking into a mazda rx 7, but i hear they are a bitch, or a nissan 240 or 180, or my first pick the datsun! (which is nissan with DATSUN!!!), anyway, i just want some suggestions right now and if naybody has any info on the mazda rx, like does it really cost a lot to repair one? ive done some research online, but i want somone here to confirm it.
thanks buds!

Get an S-chassis. You'll never regret it. Drifting OWN3S ***-dragging.
Get an S14, that's one of the cars I want baddd.
Either that or an S13 and do a sleepy-eye to it.

my friend works at XSengineering
he has a FC and a S14(auto)
he has the S14 for daily driving
FC as a race car
he just rebuilt the engine on the FC, more things to work on the rest of the car
he and another friend(Road Racing Engineering) both told me to stay away from rotaries due to engine reliability problems
the design of the old rotary engines has a major flaw due to where the intake and exhaust ports are located, if i remember correctly, this has been corrected on RX8
when the rotar is rotating, there is a slight gap where the intake is working, the is a slight gap between the wall and the rotar, so intake and export are bothe opened at the same time, i read this from Sport Compact Car a long time ago, so I may not be correct on the deals
just be ready to get a new engine if u go for a RX7 when it has over 80,000 miles but they handle great
i drove his S14 today, the thing handles great too

The nissan 240 would be my choice. You can get used ones cheap..there are tons of parts for them..and the motors have great potential...RWD, and you can buy a sylvia front to change the look. Thats my plan for a cheap fun weekend racer. I looooove rx7's....but usaf is correct..the motors aren't known to be the most reliable.

GO WITH THE FAIRLADIES BABY!!
I had a nissan 240sx SE coupe s13 and I miss it badly!!!! there's nothing like rwd drive. The balance and handling was almost perfect (still getting used to the civic).... it's very predictable when driving through corners. They are also very easy to get sideways if you are into drifting...I've seen people do a swap with a skyline motor too so power shouldn't it be a problem. with 8K you can find a used one for cheap and have some cash left over to play with. I wanted to go with nissan again but their 2003 car line up had nothing like the 240 and I wanted a car that was easy on gas (hello honda). That would be nice if they brought it back (2006 250SX rwd coupe or hatch for under 22K) I wish! I hope when I get some money I'll be in your position.

for 8 grand you could buy an old 86-92 rx7 with no engine (turbo model for better handling and brakes) buy a used Z28 engine or similar and get a swap kit for it. For under 8k you have a car that'll get shitty sideways, have a limited slip, be easy and cheap to repair, and will do a 1/4 in about 12 seconds. And with another couple grand, you could be pushin 400 hp and be in the 11's. Hmmmm. There's a website dedicated specifically to Rx7 V8 swaps...it's rather common. And the best part is...nobody would ever know you had it in there, until you destroyed em!
