Exclamation EMERGENCY! I need advice!!!!!!!

Ok, here is the rundown. I totalled my civic, and my parents are paying for it. They owe 13,100 and they will give us a check for 18,700 (-500 deductable). I had (MSRP) $3500 invested in it with aftermarket and all i want is half of that to be happy. Insurance (progressive) is saying that they dont wanna pay and that I can take the stuff off if i want to but i gotta put the original (stock) stuff on. Should I demand that they pay me? Threaten them to take em to court? WTF DO I DO! the check is written out and my dad needs to sign it today, should he refuse and demand my 1/2 my money back???? HELP!

thats all i think i could do... we are behind on car payments and ins. payments.. there is not much i can do... should i demand the cash and refuse to sign anyways or just give it up... all they say about my after market parts is "you can take them off if you wanna, just put the OEM stuff back on it".... AAAAAAHHHH! the check is waiting for my dad as we speak

unless your paying them to cover your aftermarket stuff, then you should demand they pay.

if your not, then they shouldnt have to. its the risk you take with modding any car, including a new HU.

is it extra to cover aftermarket parts under insurance? i mean from what i understood we had "full coverage", would it cover the aftermarket stuff?

Your pretty much gonna get screwed. Unless you specifically told the insurance company you had mods and they were written into your policy(insurance companies will cover mods, but you're gonna pay a rate increase)...you're not gonna get reimbursed for them. You can try and take them to court, but they have more time and money to spend on lawyers than you do.

so it would have had to be explicitly stated on my policy every single one of my mods for it to be covered?

You'd have to declare the stuff to the ins. company before anything happened to the car. If they don't know about the parts, they won't cover them.

I'd sure as hell fight for a little money. They'll probably give you something just to shut up.

my car was in an accident and they will not pay out for aftermarket parts unless you specifically told them that you are putting on extra rims, bumpers and even a system, insurance goes up, but if you have an alarm your insurance will go back down a little.

cryption should not be trusted
I have everything I added covered under my insurance for that exact reason, in your contract it even says that if you dont have it covered that it won't be paid for
