Has anyone ever driven a Lamborghini? (2 pics)
I have a few questions about these pics.
First of all, does anyone know what these 7 gauges are? It looks to me like oil pressure,
speedo, water temp, tach... something is the 6th one a clock?

Secondly, look at the shifter? Does it go like this:
R|2|4
1|3|5
?
That looks like it would take some getting used to. And is that "auto" switch next
to it for automatic transmission?

Just curious.

Yes the shift gate is like that. No clue why... probably because the thing hits 60 in 1st and on a track you never need it again, so it just becomes a 4 speed H gate box. The switch next to the shifter isn't the transmission. I forget what its for, but it has some mechanical function.
As for the gauges, I see Volts, Tach, Speedo, Fuel, a clock, water temp and oil pressure.
The big quirk about Diablos is the ergonomics suck. The steering wheel, seat and pedals do not fall on the same centerline.

Interesting. I assumed the auto thing would be for transmission cuz it had "1 2 3 4" next
to it, like a 4-speed auto indicator or something. I dunno. That sucks about the
ergonomics. I'd never heard that before, but I had heard that some of the older
supercars were rather uncomfortable.

That is a real Lambo Diablo, the tranny is a 5 spd, because back then it was, the new Murcielago (spelling?) has a 6 spd, and the AUTO button I believe is for the suspension system, you could raise or lower the suspension manually, or leave it in auto. Also, the Diablo did not have a turbo, at least not in factory form, except for a few rare AWD twin-turbo models.

It is a real Diablo interior.
They are naturally aspirated v- 12s. I don't know of any factory models w/ turbos. Even the SE/ JOTA editions or the ones they made for racing were not.
The gear- box pattern is a traditional Lamborghini pattern
It doesn't need a 6th gear as it's incredibly torquey (it can start in 4th & accelerate to over a 100 mph faster than most sports cars!!) our civics can't really take of from 2nd!!
Are you sure the settings are for height adjustment? I thought they were damping settings (but i'm not sure) It would help to know what model it is. Some have brake bias adjustment & other stuff..

And that gearbox pattern is because you'd rarely use 1st gear on a road course. Older 928s had the same pattern, as did the old Testarossa.
As for the switch, that makes sense that its for damping. Trust me, there is a lockout on that car. Actually its funny how many cars have a lockout. My C5 had a lockout because the T56 tranny has reverse next to 5th. You basically pushed the stick over to the right side of the neutral gate and had to wait a split second for the lockout to disengage (IIRC). And I think above a certain speed the lockout would NOT disengage so that you could not accidentally shift from 4th to Reverse.
Some cars have a manual lockout via a ring on the shift lever that lets you engage reverse. I believe the Subaru STi has this type of a lockout.

The AUTO button/switch is for dampening/suspension setting, but I know the current Murcielago, and I believe the Diablo, had a way to raise the front suspension manually, so you don't destroy your $10,000 front bumper when going over curbs, backing out of driveways, etc.

I drove a countach briefly when I was working valet parking about 10 years ago....Didnt get to spend much time in the car but the time I did spend in the car was amazing. I have also driven an NSX, Ferraris and porsches, panos too
arnt all VWs Rs in that spot????? I thought they were all ike that, didnt know this kinda car was tho. I love that there is no shift boot and just that metal thing - can we get somthing like that for our cars?
IIRC,
VW's pattern is like this
R 1 3 5
--2 4 6

ok, 1st, the diablos were not to my knowledge ever 6 speed, that came with the murcielago(i know the spelling is off)
2, vw's also have the standard
135
24R
and it may surprise some but there are becomming more cars with manual height adjustment, i.e. volvo XC-series, audi all-road's, most land rovers, mercedes s-series(possibly e)
as for manual reverse lockouts, saabs have them, focus/cougars, VW's(instead of pulling on the lock, you puch it down)
thats all the answers i can think of right now

Actually, that is what the auto button on the AC control unit does (see pic 2). The auto next to the gear shift is for something different, most likely damping or height control.
Unfortunately the only rich guy I know is into Ferrari cars, not Lambos
