Since it's just a few weeks now, someone needs to post a countdown timer to count the days, hours, minutes, and seconds til the 2004 comes out, like they did with the Freddy vs. Jason movie.......... lease:

You guys are halarious...

My bad on the taillight post, I serously thought he was talking about the taillights, I guess I never considered the headlights on the 6th or 7th gen a "triangle" or "wedge"...

Again, my bad on that one, but thats an honest mistake...

Now as for my counting.., I'm absolutly correct, just because the 7th generation showed up in 2000 does not make it a 2000 model, DUH, I got my 2002 RSX on October 12, 2001, that does not make it a 2001, its a 2002.., now if your trying to designate generations of civics by their relese date and not by their year designation, thats just funny.., who would do that? of course the 8th generation civic will be here late 2005, but it WILL be a 2006 model, not a 2005...........

and I'm not a grandpa, I turn 22 tomorrow....

3rd post.., Yiiippppeeee

hahahaha.., that still cracks me up, how many people here have a 7th gen civic who's title says it is a 2000?

I gotta quit laughing and get back to work.., no flamming intended, just anxiously awaiting some photo's of the new "facelift" myself, my girl is going to get a `04 EX Sedan 5-sp if they are not toooo hidious, if they are ugly, she's going to try to find a left over `03....

Ok people. The 2004 is till part of the 7th gen line. Since 1980, generations have run for 4 years (2001-2004). You can check out a history of the civic here: http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/gener...2/article.html The first 8th gen should be the 2005 model, unless Honda decides to change its normal 4 year rotation. Changing the headlights is not a major change. Engine, drive train, and body style are all major changes, and we will not see those until the 2005 model comes out in Sept of 2004.

NO!!!!!! Honda generations have been running 5 years, look at the 6th gen Accord as someone already pointed out as an example. 6th gen came out in '98, and ran until '02, that's 5 model years!!! SO, unless Honda is switching to a 4 year model run, the '04 WILL STILL BE A 7TH GEN!!!!!!!!!! AS WILL THE '05!!!!!!!!! So 8th gen would come out around this time of year in 2005 as an '06!!! DOES THIS CLEAR EVERYTHING UP?!?!?!?!?!?!? (me, reading this thread: )

No actually you're wrong. Look at the timeline link I posted. You can't compare the Accord and Civic for when new models will come out. They're two completely different cars. Before you look like a moron and start bashing what I post, make sure you're 100% correct next time. The generations have run as follow since 1980: 80-83, 84-87, 88-91, 92-95, 96-00. Granted 96-00 was a 5 year run. But based on the history, and what I've read, they will continue to follow the normal 4 year rotation. You shouldn't be so matter of fact and belligerent about something, that nobody know's for sure, except the Honda company themselves. Manufacturers change the rotation of their cars all the time. Next time find a more respectful and decent way of disagreeing with me, before throwing out the huge font, caps, and exclamation points. All you succeeded in doing was making yourself out to look like the fool. Thanks.

"Granted 96-00 was a 5 year run"

THANK-YOU!!! Why would Honda change the model year timeframe from 5 to 4 years now, when it was 5 in the prev. generation? And I know the Accord is a different model, but Honda uses similar model timeframes for most ALL of their models, so you can correlate the 2 in a way. All of this bickering is pointless anyway until we see some hard facts and pics from AHM or other reputable sources in another year that will tell us FOR SURE if the '05 will be a 7th or 8th gen. So until then, for everyone!!!!!

do you know what a REFRESH is? you DO know that the 96-00 civics are 6th gen right? honda refreshed the civic in 98 w/ different headlights and bumpers. and 2 years later the 7th gen came out. isn't that crazy? the 7th gen civic has been out 2 years already, so it's time for a refresh.

Actually it's 3 years now, but who's counting? The refresh part is 100% correct. my 2003 EX interior looks way better than my '01 EX interior did, so that was a rather major interior refresh after just 2 years, so it's possible. I think the big $100,000 question now is, will the REAL 8th gen redesign be out in '04 as an '05 model, or in '05 as an '06?

damnit! this car just makes me feel like my car is old now! damn.
anyways, maybe its the new FP (Factory Performance) series. i heard it was coming out in
a while with lots of suspension and brake upgrades, but i'm probably wrong.
i like the 7th Gen better anyways. i guess Honda is trying to make it look more sleek like
the Honda Accord in the UK and JAP (our Acura TSX in US) with new body styling.

It's getting worse and worse. The best gen was 99-2000. Now the 04 looks more like a camry! If I saw it on the road, I wouldn't think it was even a civic.
