It's hard to say. With 280 whp... getting to 5 seconds wouldn't be about adding more power, hell you could probably do it with less power, but it's more about traction. You'd need good tires, light wheels, stiff springs, and possibly an LSD if you're running that much power and you want to hook up.
I'd like to have somewhere around 160-175 whp. That would be adequate for anything I'd ever want to do with my car. Anything over 200 would be a major waste of fuel for almost all situations I would think. It would be fun for sure but not too practical I don't think.

Honda's are torqueless wonders... to get an S2K to run fast 0-60 times you need to make clutch soup (5-6K drops). Thats 240 HP in a car that weighs 2700 or so lbs.... but only 153ft-lbs of torque (and its at 7400 RPMS). If you had 280 HP and could pull 210-220 ft-lbs out of it and had enough tire to hang on, and could get suffecient torque to the ground low in the rev range, its probably possible. If you had displacement, you could have torque, unfortunately 1.7 or 2.0L isn't much to work with unless its pressurized.
On another note... can someone explain the recient fascination with 0-60 times? Its really a completely useless measure of speed if you think about it. Its not a very even test. Too much is put on the idiot driving it to get the tires to catch and not bog down... even if they do take an average. Its much more fair to use a rolling start test. Then all you have to do is shift gears.

yea i have no idea how 5-60 times are slower then 0-60 times... it just doens't make any sense unless the launch just... well launches the car that fast to make a difference in times.
