10th Anniversary Cobra ***56k and Broadband Death***
ugly maybe, but if you went for a test drive in that, then a civic (and money wasnt a concern) there would be no way would choose the civic. As if they werent fast enough stock, with simple bolt ons and pulley upgrades for the supercharger, those things are stupid fast.

I think the shifter looks really bad, I do agree that it's a pretty good deal for the type of performance you get.
Though, i'd rather have a shifter cart...THOSE are stupid fast...

Ah, Good Ol Austin Texas! Everyone seems to love taking pictures at that spot... Heck, I've done it in the past too!
Mustang Cobra -- great straight line speed, heavy for corners. Mustang ergonomics still aren't as good as most foreign cars.

I've driven one, well not like that, but a GT. I didn't like it at all . The driving position was wacked out, shifting was heavy, handling was heavy, breaking was harsh. . Just not a smooth car. . Granted it's fast, but it's damn ugly and damn brutal to drive. no suave in it at all .

I'm a sucker for the boxy type stangs. not the ugly previous generation.
I wouldn't commute that though.

I love all the "domestic" bashing. I'll admit, I am not a fan of the Mustang, unless your main goal is straight line speed. Our 2002 GT convertible isn't really a "fun" car if your idea is buzzing through the corners. Its a heavy car. But, its got a great sounding exhaust note, torque that is pretty decent, and surprisingly having the ragtop makes the car able to haul large items that you cant get into a Mustang Coupe.
Granted that a V6 Mustang leaves a LOT to be desired. The GT is bearable, but not really a fast car (for me -- I've had a pretty exciting previous 4 cars, and the Civic is car I bought out of necessity).
I know this statement sounds ludicrous, but I'd rather spend the money on a used 2001 Z06 (385hp) than on a new Cobra. I guess for the kind of driver I am, the Corvettes erogonomics and superior handling/feel are worth buying used vs a new Cobra.
I'd even be willing to spend more for a newer 405hp Z06 over the stock Cobra. Some of my interior quality gripes are ones that you'd find on a base V6, a GT, and probably on a high dollar Cobra. I mean I guess its the same as if Honda actually produced a K20 Civic. It would be fun, but the people who feel that a DX or LX is a cheap car would have the same comments on a more expensive K20 Civic.
That said, my previous car was a WRX wagon. Fun car, lots of room for cargo (less roomy than the Civic for people though!), but overall the quality of the interior materials and the fit and finish ranked below the Civic (again, IMO).
