The title says it....Top 25 Lemon Cars. Information was compiled by US federal government and released. However, it doesn't apply to models that have changed since 2001. Ford Escape was top on the list! No Mercedes made the list.

Rep Power: 0 You have to remember that the more a car is bought, the more chance there is that its lemon numbers will be high. Most of those cars are popular cars. Probably explains why there is no hyundai on there: nobody buys them!

Rep Power: 0 A Toyota coming in at number 2? I'm suprised that Toyota produced that many lemons considering that they strive for total quality, or that's what i read about when taking cost accounting. But if it's gonna be one of their cars, it makes sense that it's the prius.

Hyundai should outsell nissan soon enough.
notice there isnt corollas and camrys from toyota... meaning complaints registered for RAV4 and PRIUS is an alarming sign for toyota...

yeah....hyundai aint too shabby anymore. my 1995 beater hyundai has literally been thru hell. Serves the true meaning of being a beater, yet still hasnt given up on me once. It has 94497 miles and still running strong as ever. Hyundais are very underrated IMO.

Rep Power: 0 it's not a ratio:
The values are too big for it to be #lemons/#cars sold (if this were the case, the numbers would be less than 1), and the values trend in the wrong direction for it to be #cars sold/#lemons (bad car would have relativley more lemons and would therefore have smaller numbers than quality cars). It seems that that's an absolute number of lemons, and is thus fairly skewed.

Rep Power: 282 The complaint index is based on a ratio of the number of complaints for each vehicle to the sales of that vehicle.
. . . . amazing what one can find by actually clicking on the supplied link and reading the first paragraph.

But you guys are absolutely right.
And the more you play, the better your chances are of winning.
. . . . in other words. . . .
Regardless of who you are, the more cars you sell, the more you risk a higher number of reported problems.

Rep Power: 282 Bear in mind that many sports car enthusiasts will opt to work on their own car, rather than let someone else turn the wrench.
It's likely that MANY problems with Pony cars never are reported.
AND, this is VERY important. The description for hte criteria on this list is that the models they're sampling HAVE NOT CHANGED in the three or so years they conducted the study.
Camaros and Trans Ams are no longer made. . . hence, they wouldn't show up on this particular list, anyway.

Rep Power: 0 I know why our cars are so high............After searching for SRS light and going through the posts, we probably contributed to 75% of the dealer visits because we didn't know how to reset the damn thing before the DIY .

my last two cars 95 Civic & my 2002 civic.. i put 60,000mi on my first civic. only out of Maintenance cost was $60. My 2002 with 32,000mi has not had a problem yet.
and honestly my brother takes better care of his cars than i do, so in my opinion, which i make from what i see with my own eyes, i think they're junk.

For 2003, they are already projecting 425,000 units.
Nobody buys them? HAHAHA.. don't be sour cause our cars made the lemon list. 7th Gens are the most unreliable Civics ever made.

Rep Power: 0 I remember reading in a magazine about how Hyundai tied Honda this year in a reliability contest. Do I believe it? Yes. I couldn't tell you how many people I talked to that made it past the 100,000 miles with 0 visits to the mechanic, just gas and oil changes. Same thing for the Honda. I can't believe it's on there. I bet it's for the 2001 Civic, because it's a first gen and will have its quirks.
