Hummer vs. Dodge..............OUCH!
yeah well they are crap anyway...the older hummers were something of prestige and toughness, but these they have now are just minivans on a truck frame made for soccer moms with thoughts of grandure while taking there kids to practice

Damn. . . I'm almost certain I had to educate the lot of you on this accident, before.
H1 - Military-derived Humvee converted for civilian use. Proprietary frame
H2 - Built-up on Chevy Tahoe platform (lighter duty)
Dodge in picture - 1 TON (note the dualies) frame
H2 curb weight - 6400 lbs
Dodge curb weight - 6700 lbs MINIMUM
Simple physics, people. The Dodge was actually the HEAVIER of the two, hence carrying more mass than the Hummer. (Also causing more damage)
BTW, looking at the Dodge, it does NOT appear to have faired any better than the H2, in this accident.
Oh, no one realized that the hood on the H2 is NOT made of metal? I'm not blindly defending the H2 (I HATE how it's been made a status symbol by the wealthy) but I think the vast mojority of people don't give the thing the credit it deserves.
Want to talk about vehicles that are never taken off-road? Talk about ALL the SUVs that are little more than lifted 4WD minivans for suburbia. Want to talk about how it's too big? Let's talk about the Ford Excursion . . . that Ford finally admitted was too large to be practical. Want to talk about expensive SUVs? Fine, let's look at the Lincoln (bigscreen) Navigator, the Cadillac Escalade, and the entires from Lexus, Toyota, Infiniti, Land Rover, etc.
I like the H2. . I won't lie. I WAS going to buy one, but the image it now has truly disgusts me. (Looking at something far more mainstream as a future SUV now) Even if I didn't like it I'd tell anyone who knows little to nothing about it to at least do their homework before blindly following the vast (also uneducated) majority in their opinions of what really is a marvel of engineering and capability. (Not to be confused with reliability or its structural integrity when driven into a brick wall.)
End rant.

The H2 is just a Full Frame chassis, Just like whats under a Suburban, with a different body attached to it. Nothing special at all.
It dosn't even have 4 wheel independant suspension any more!! It caters to a Look and thats it.

Again, I beg to differ . . . and here's why.
Powerful engine, both in HP and torque. Necessary for hill climbing.
HIGH ground clearance, a full 1-3 inches over most other SUVs
VERY short approach and departure angles, meaning it won't get hung up on the front or rear bumpers
Wider track than the vehicles it was based on. Better side-stability.
Optional air suspension with on-board air compressor. To re-inflate tires after off-roading.
Standard engine oil cooler. Longer outings without oil breakdown.
Traction control. 'nuff said
HUGE 4-wheel disc brakes. Ditto.
Standard off-road skid plates. Again. . . ditto.
While the H1 is more-capable, it's also about 1 FOOT WIDER than the H2, uses a diesel engine for TORQUE, not HP, weighs 700 lbs MORE than the H2, and costs almost twice as much.
Still think the H2 doesn't serve a purpose?
Not hating. . . just don't like hearing dribble when all the facts aren't presented.
THE ONLY TRAGEDY with the H2, is that it's seldom ever used for its intended purpose. . . going. . off. . . road.

And you've JUST now figured out why they still make the H1.
I'm starting to HATE my Civic. It's slow as ****. Doesn't mean it's a bad car.

C'mon people. . . the H2 costs almost HALF what the H1 does. Losing that 700 lbs of curb weight means it's not going to be as tough as the H1. It can't. . . not unless they started making the thing out of magnesium. . . . but then it'd cost MORE than the H1.

Ever driven an H2? They're tougher than almost every other truck on the road. If you want a tank. . .. buy a ****ing tank.

Good call. I think the H2 is a good automobile. The H1 is better in some respects, but the H2 has it's benefits as well. It all depends upon what you want out of it.

The H2 is alright, I would drive one, but I would take that thing where it's meant to go, through ****. I would much rather have an H1 of course but for the price the H2 is the more reachable goal.
Now on to that civic vs H1 pic.
1. damn........
2. Own3d
3. if that car wasn't dropped before, it is now.

Sorry for causing all the trouble. LOL I just thought it was a good picture to show people that it doesn't matter what you drive, there's always another vehicle out there that makes you just as vulnerable as everyone else. I mean, the # 1 reason most people buy an SUV is, not to take it off-road (their intended purpose), but to wrap themselves in a giant steel cocoon on the road, because they feel safer. And IMO, this picture shows what happens when that "feeling of safety" becomes a feeling of superiority, and you've all experienced this with someone behind the wheel of an SUV, and they feel nothing can touch them.
Again, sorry, I didn't mean to p!ss off anyone, especially you YukonArt
. Now, can we all get back to saying "Damn! Own3d!" and all the other stuff.
As for the pic of the civic and the H1, I have only one thing to say, "Damn!!! Own3d!!!"
**edit** Sometimes I spell like crap.

Nah, I wasn't offended. . . . just took this opportunity to educate.
Many vehicles get false monikers from the vastly misinformed public. I have done extensive research on several vehicles in the past year. . . the H2 is among them.
Others on the list include:
Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
Impreza WRX STi
350Z
Subaru Legacy (All models)
. . and a few more.
I TOTALLY agree that the H2 is one of the most misused vehicles on the road, today. I can't stand that. The reason they're such a waste is because around 99% of them will never be properly-utilized.
Take a Jeep Wrangler, and it'd be one of the most-utilized specialty vehicles around. Many buyers of Jeeps actually take them off-road. Hell, many of them build them up quite well. You'd be shocked at what those things can do in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing.
Same goes for the H2.
