Is there really a significant difference between an Eclipse GS & a GS-T? This dude was freaking out over people thinking his car was a GS. & then he was telling people they were stupid for not knowing what DSM was

yes a huge difference. gs is non turbo, gs-t is turbo. about 60-70 horsepower difference. ya dsm owners are all about dsm and anyone who isnt part of the dsm crowd is a nobody to them. granted there are a few out there who get along with everyone, but from just being at the tracks and shows, it seems they always stick together and never venture out.

I'll have to remember that when my friend with the Evo starts feeling insecure once I bring home the STi.

Lotus is coming out with that new little car in the U.S. & its only like $35,000. I'm sure it will have quit a bit of power. But everyone I've ever known that had an Eclipse has said it rattles apart real easily & they'd never buy another 1

jus read some reviews on the lotus esprint thats already in the US market.
a DSM is a diamond star motor, it was a joint venture between Mitsubishi and Chrysler that produced the Eagle Talon, Mitsu Eclipse, and the Plymouth Laser. It was located in Normal IL.
DSM also produced other cars such as the Dodge stealth, and its twin the mitsu 3000Gt,
In late 95 mitsu bought out chryslers share, and is now their North American home.

from 90-94 there was a motor plant (dsm) that made the 4g63 in the 1st gen eclipses after 94 they sold the plant to daimler-chrysler and they changed a few things in the motor such as manifold, turbo, intake and so on....keeping the call letters 4g63. so its still considereed a dsm mid 95-99 is when the "new" motors came from the new plant. they had many imperfections...... 75% of turbo 2g's crank walk at about 60k..............so thats what dsm is
Yea, but the 4G63-T is one of the easiest 4 cyl. motors to mod. You can "easily" (since all the parts are readily available, just need the $), get a DSM to put out around 800 whp, with about a 10 sec 1/4. My friend has a 2G Talon, it has had two motors in it now, (its a non turbo) and he just had to replace the connecting rods and the crankshaft. But...the car does have 124,000 miles on it.
