i dont know if anyone knows this, but did you know that a race horse can run the 1/4 mile in 15 seconds. thats faster then a lot of cars.

Yeah .. like my Geo Metro that I used to have. . .
1/4 Mile in 2 days, 5 hours, 23 minutes, and 17 seconds..
haha. . Until I put 150 shot of nitrous in there and blew it up. I took out a stang doing it though. . was hilarious.

its not necessarily top speed its how quick they are, not fast. There 0-topspeed is prolly like 2 seconds or so...no having to average in 10mph, 11mph, 12...etc

Rep Power: 271 wait i take that whole thing back bout averaging 60 mph to get 15 sec time... ive been outside all day lowering my car so im not really thinking straight right now... i still think its bullsh1t that horses will run 15's cuz aren't they only 1 horsepower

Are you saying a horse can run the 1/4 in 15 seconds from a stop?! Or it can run the 1/4 mile in 15 seconds if it's given time to get up to speed before you start counting the 1/4 mile?
Cuz if it's from a stop, then the horse has to go over 60mph in order to make 15 seconds.

Rep Power: 0 i was watching a kids tv show, i forget the name. the show was all about science and geared towards kids. i don't even know why i was watching it, but it was interesting. the show also said that the fastest human can run the 1/4 mile in 48 seconds. it didn't say who though.
and yes race horses run from dead stop to finish in 15 seconds it said.
anyone been to the track to find out?

Actually, the current world record for the 400 meters is 43.18 seconds, set by who else......Michael Johnson.

Rep Power: 0 The fastest 1/4 mile time at The Kentucky Derby for a thoroughbred was 22 seconds. I guess without a 115lb jockey on thier back, 15 sec is possible.
