S10 Xtreme single cab! HAHA!
I haven't studied the XTREME too much but it really looks aggressive.. I thought I would give it a go when I pulled up next to a black one at a stoplight.. Well.. I had the windows down and I only have a CAI and axleback piping with fireball style muffler on my 03 LX coupe.. (really i got like 1 more hp than the stock civic engine haha)
I'm guessing the XTREME I raced was an auto.. the guy had his hands on the wheel the whole time.. We both had one passanger.. but to get to the point.. I blew him away?? Whats the deal.. Why is it so Xtreme? I mean doesn't it boast a V6 and a lightweight body? I am baffled that I won.. I know its a truck but its a tiny truck.. and they had to have the engine advantage..
Oh well. Just thought I would let you guys add to the very small list of vehichles we can beat under certain circumtances.. I mean maybe he didn't know how to properly press the gas pedal.. who knows..

i had an xtreme before my civic...
vortec v6
step-side
regular cab
with an 18/20 set-up
etc. etc.
the xtreme also comes in a 4-cyl...im sure that he had that because a vortec v6 would have handed you a good spanking...
the xtreme is really just an s-10 lowered 2inches with an upgraded suspension and sporting ground effects

Rep Power: 0 The S10 xTreme I4 only has 118HP, the V6 has 180Hp. (+ 10Hp for teh 4x4 version) and a lotta TQ around 240-250 i think on the V6...
basically the Xtreme was about giving the truck similar handling characristics to the Z28 Camaro, and the TransAM.... Not too sure but some came with the leftover rims off the ealry 90's camaros taht couldn't be sold... HAHHAHA

Indeed. . . one of my nephews owned one a while back. Even stock, would kill just about any of our rides (short of any FI setups or swaps)
No weight reduction. But a VERY nice ZQ8 suspension package, lip kit, etc. I can't believe those who are calling this truck gay. It's an S-10. C'mon. . .it's like calling a 6th gen Civic Si gay. Same difference. The V6 (4.3 liter) has gobs of torque and the 5-speed tranny hooked up to it was a real surprise to drive. MUCH quicker than most of you would think.
I'm trying to get my other nephew to pull the mods from his current 98 S-10 and buy an extended cab Xtreme (or at least an LS ext cab with V6 and manual tranny) to build-up for showing. . . but those combinations are very difficult to find.
Like me, he prefers to go with the clean look. . . .

Rep Power: 306 It's all good. . . trust me, there's no way in hell my nephew could ever hope to keep with me. Beating a 4-cyl S-10 Extreme isn't something I'd tell too many more people about.

Rep Power: 0 MY 4.3L TBI Sonoma use to spank 5.0L mustang convertables (heavy car) and that wasnt the Vortec model (Center port injection). The Zq8 package helps with the cornering and of course styling. There is a 4 cylinder version and its more show then go but then again it gets around 25mpg on the highway and the v6 gets 17 barely. There are more aftermarket parts for this truck (s10s in general) then any other vehicle around. They even have a bolt in LT1 motor swap available (325-375 hp). But heres the best part, how many of us can put 1/2 ton in our trunks and have 2 adults in the front? Even 4 adults in a stock civic doesnt compare to that. remember most of the trucks are ment for hauling/towing ,they have more torque and better gearing for that purpose not racing. You want to race a stock FACTORY truck, try going against a Syclone or Typhoon and look out 4.3L turbo AWD. the Syclone was in the high 13s (13.8) and the typhoon high 14s from GM. The Civic is a commuter car, granted some are "hooked up" but they mostly are middle age woman or family owned. The Xtremes were more of mid 20s male owned truck for "shows" that were factory lowered (no warranty problems). The Xtreme deserves alittle more respect, just because this is a Civic forum doesnt make all other cars/trucks inferior. I have had SUVs, trucks, Civics and Accords. Each vehicle has served a diffent purpose and each deserves respect in that nature. This is probably the biggest compaint most people have about formums dedicated to a certain model or generation of vehicle. I beat a so and so vehicle they suck my car is the best blah blah blah. Grow up, its a car and there is someone bigger better and fast then you. Enjoy what you got and dont listen to what so and so has done to his car. We build our vehicles the way we want to, not what everyone else wants, if you follow the masses you show no individuality to yourself and just want to be liked. Try for once to be a trendsetter or do something different. Like factory build Xtremes where built for the masses , Car manufacters know this. Ok, im done rambling and i know there is going to be backlash to these statements. So what, enjoy your car/truck/SUV/Motorcycle/Rikshaw no matter what any one else says. Its yours and like your car, you are an individual
