Buying two new cars with a trade in
Ok. Here is where I got to ask for advice. I went to the dealership today and tried to purchase an V6 accord. The msrp on that bad boy is 23,560. So I tried to negociate. I offered 22k OTD and they basically said No. I remember I bought my civic ex for way below msrp. It was 19xxx for the civic and I got it for 17 OTD. I bought 3 cars from this place and they dont treat me like a valued customer. I talked to my parents and they decided they wanted to trade their van in for a pilot. My question is if we trade in the van and try to purchase two cars at once we can get a better deal?
The reason you could buy the Civic for that low below MSRP is because they are readily available and the dealers just need to move them. That V6 Accord is somewhat rare right now, especially if it was the 6 speed, so they know that they don't have to sell it to you when someone else will come in a few days from now and pay sticker for it.

I guess .. This one is automatic LX . This is one that doesnt have a navagational system. I mean he said he would sell it for 23OTD. One more thousand that what im offering.
Civics are their bread and butter...they basically give them away. Trying to put the deal together with trades won't really help. I traded in 3 cars when my wife and I bought the CRV and EX. Basically said.."okay, these 2 eat your wife's negatine equity in her car...now how much you wanna pay a month?" Only thing a trade helps is taking some money off the agreed price and the tax on that corresponding value. (so trade is valued at $2k, they take $2k off the $23k and you are paying $21k and you only have to pay taxes on the $21k rather than the full $23k.)
Anyway, then they will mess with you in financing, etc. Best way to do it is either have cash in hand or your own financing. Then you can walk in, pick the car out you want and say, this is what I am paying...take it or leave it cause there is 5 more Honda dealers in town. That or get quotes from their Internet Sales department, if you know what you want...send them all quote requests with your specs and they will find it. Check out Edmunds.com and make sure you know the Fair Market Value of the car you are shopping for. Salesman's worse nightmare is a customer that has done their research.

You will have a lot more leverage if you want to buy TWO cars and not just one at a time. I mean, who wouldn't want the commission off a pilot AND an Accord at the same time? This should get their attention and at least increase their desire to keep you in the dealership. If not, get out. I went through 2 dealers before I found one worthy of buying my car from.

i was at the dealership the other day and i told them wat if i trade in my car and th eguy said he will offer me 12, 500 for it. then he asked me what kind am i looking at. i told him im interested on the new accord accord coupe EX. he said what is ur price range. i told him im looking for financing around 6k-7k u know so i asked him if he could give me the car for around 18k-19k. he said he could work out some figures and its possible for him to give that car to me at that price because he said they are hurting on the sales.
man i was really tempted and i was just wondering if i let a good deal slip right in front of me.

Okay, if they won't budge on the your offer i said fvck it. Not only do i say this since you've bought 3 previous cars from you - they should value you as a loyal customer.
But if you still want to work with this dealer - ask them for fleet pricing if you're buying two cars.
About a month ago i traded in my protege 5. I bought a TL and a CL-S the same day and we bargained for about 6 hours. Got $4k off each car. MSRP for the TL was $37,800 (Canadian) and we got it for $33800, and the CL-S was $41,800 and got it for $37800 - so yes, if Acura can do it, i don't see why Honda couldn't. They would still be making money on your first offer. Don't give up that easily cuz they are able to move - just depends on which sales agent you deal with.

Yeah. . remind them of how many cars you've bought from there. You will definately get a different deal for buying 2 cars at once. They can risk loosing a couple thousand off 1 sale, but there isn't anyway in hell that they are going to let 2 new sales walk away without cutting a deal.

I looked up the value of the trade in of the van on KBB. It says the van is worth 5k trade in
.. You would think the value of a dodge would be stable (thinks of a neon) oh nvm. My folks want to trade the van in because it is always having problem and is on the verge of a breakdown.
