I have an AEM SRI and i haven't purchased bypass valves. I know that if my intake gets submurged in water that it will suck in water and blah blah blah, but if water gets all the way up to where my filter is, I think I would have bigger problems because the filter is at the top of my engine bay. I imagine if you have a CAI it would be a bigger deal because it goes down towards the ground, but is it really necessary????

BYpass valves are never really "necessary" You can avoid hydrolocking your engine by simply coasting through large puddles or avoiding them all together. Witha SRI, you have an even SLIMMER chance of this happenning than with a CAI because of the location of the filter. So to answer your question, you don't need to get one with an SRI.
