It seems that even though this is a HONDA Civic site, people do talk about other cars. So out of the HONDA Civic, Ford Focus, Chevy Cavalier, or Dodge Neon which would you choose? why would you choose it? better mods/look/features?

I believe the civic has the best looks out of all of those listed as well as the best fit and finish. It is also around the same area in terms of performance unless you're looking at the performance version of the cavalier (Z24?). I liked the looks of the civic, and from past experiences, honda has always amde a quality car, so i chose to buy it instead of a focus (which had already gone though TONS of recalls). Also, the civic was likely to have the largest aftermarket support of the 4 seeing as how it's...well....a civic.

I bought a civic because my mommy wanted me to have a safe reliable car to make the trip home to see her. (really) I was stoked to get a civic because after having two cars with no aftermarket support (1980 Buick Century, ,1992 Ford Ranger) I finally had something that could be modified. That and the fact that it is in my opinion the best car on the market in it's category. Had I had the option to get a performance type car I would have gone with the RSX-S. I do like the SVT focus and the SRT-4 Neon but would probably still go with the type-s just since it's a Honda product and I have been satisfied with their reliability. However, if I could get a Cosworth(sp?) focus that should be coming out soon I would definetly go with it.

That turbo neon isn't that bad...I would ONLY get it for the speed...as nice looking as civics can get, they lack the power. Let's face it, it IS pretty damn cool to roll up knowing that you can take most anyone around you (Although I don't know that feeling too well). I would be willing to bank on the fact that most of you all would agree that speed is phatty.
Titanium Metallic. You got a problem with that?

Well, Id pick the civic since I did, but that was b4 the SRT-4. Now thats an awesome car and all, but it still looks like a freakin chick car and is mass bubbly. Civic style owns all out there when properly equiped. If you were to add a turbo to a DX, drop, rims, exhaust, still less then a SRT-4.
I bought the Civic Si coupe because it was among the cheapest to insure. Also, I know that I could get rid of it for high dollars down the road. As long as I keep it mint, it will hold its value. Its a wise investment.

Focus RS, or an SRT-4. Civics are great (wish I had one), but when the performance version looks like a minivan, there's a problem. I don't mind the chick car look, and with a kit, the SRT-4 would look kinda cool. I don't know, I'll just have to wait and see what I end up with a few years down the road.
My girl has one of those new 03 cavalier it is ugly and nothing to fix them up. My freind has A foucs h/b just ugly. And yes the new neon is fast but I have heard they are not debbendable. So the civic is the best
I prolly wouldnt get any of them, but If I was, I'd say the civic is best looking and if I wasn't going for speed I'd get it. I'd get the srt-4 for speed or an svt focus (they look better than the srt-4, and a better track/autocross car)
I sure wish my car was newer

I thought the Ford Focus was a really nice car (design-wise) when they came out. However, I wanted a coupe - not a sedan or hatch - so there went the Focus.
I would never buy a non-Vette Chevy, so good-bye Cavalier. Besides that, my mom had one (she doesn't know jack about cars and just though it was cute) it was a '98 Z24 and even though it was faster than my car, it had a fit and finish I would expect if my 3 year old nephew put the car together.
Now we come to the Dodge Neon. Now, the SRT-4 may be the fastest car under $20,000, but DAYUM... have you seen it? It's ugly as hell and it's a sedan - not what I want.
Voila - that leaves the Civic coupe.

I just think there's something about a japanese car that i like, maybe it's the reliability. I mean, if you were driving a Chevy, you would run into alot more problems than we would ever dare to. Ford has never really been bad with quality in my opinion, i just never liked the look of their cars comparable to the civic. (escort, base model stang, probe)
i think that neon is the ugliest piece of **** ever... plus its got ricer written all over it with the no muffler thing... i mean growl from a 4 banger? ha.
and the cavalier is a piece of ****. it handle for crap. poor ergonimical design inside... no acceleration... i hate it.
so for me the vic is the road i choose.
*edit* oops didnt see the focus...
if its that svt focus... ild probably take it over the vic... a reg focus nope, but that svt is a nice ride...

At the end of my lease for my civic in July next year, if I can afford one, I will probably be getting either an RSX Type S or a regular WRX. If for some reason I cannot afford one of them, then I will be looking for a Dodge SRT-4. 6 weeks ago I test drove one. I was blown away. I love the looks (it does need a good drop though), the handling and never mind the acceleration. Every car magazine is raving about it especially at its price. And for someone like me that only holds onto cars for 2-3 years, I won't really worry about the reliability because the miles won't get very high before I trade it in. Dodge really did a great job and I think one of the main reasons you see no "Neon" anywhere on the car is because Dodge didn't want the bad neon name associated with the car.
i hate neons, focus's and cavi's. i love civiys. neons = ugly, focus's = uglier, cavi's = only look good in yellow and its still ugly.. lol. civic is the only one that looks good. i would LOVE to put the tail end of a lexus is300 on the back of my civiy. but for that money i would just buy a mustang. :P

I love my civic, but if I were to get a second cheep car it would probably be a Neon ACR (Not the SRT-4). The ACR stood for American Club Racer, and was probably one of the best race ready FWD cars out there aside from the Type-R integra.
Suprisingly, since its inseption the Neon has been used in club racing as well as autocross quite sucessfully, the neon may have more racing history then the civic.
the other cars on my Possible future race car list are
1. 1st gen RX7 (Cheep, performance parts are readily availible, long racing histiory/well handling car)
2. Miata (1.6 or 1.8) I'd prefer the 1.8 but it dosnt really matter. Possibly one of the cheepest race cars you can buy/build. New club racing class (Spec Miata) supported by both NASA and SCCA. Well handling, inexpensve, reliable (Even in race form).

I hate all of them - I love my Civic, though.
I've only had the experience with the Cavalier... I believe it was an 01 or 02, don't remember. It's not as wind deterent as the Civic - it felt like I was driving in an empty soup can compared to the Civic. Wouldn't buy it.
Haven't driven a Neon, but I like the SRT-4. Wouldn't buy it. I'd hit it and quit it.
I'm thinking of test driving a few Focus' just so I can see if they do deserve some type of credibility.

Well I was going to get a Ford at one time more recently....(last 3 years), but after I saw that my buddies new F-150 develop a major oil leak after only 10,000 miles, I said screw that. I know it's just one car, but 5 years ago I used to work part time delivery job at a pizza joint and a friend of mine there, had a Ford Escort for only a year and the tranny somehow came loose.
I have just no confidence in Fords.
