2001 Civic SI coupe?
2001 Civic SI coupe?
I was just wondering if someone could clear something up for me. I thought that the last SI coupe was 99-00? I have seen in some threads that people say they own a 2001 coupe SI, but I know the Si came back as a hatchback and it was 01-02, wasn't it? Actually, the other day, I saw a 7th gen coupe (with canadian license plate) that had the Si emblem. It looked to me like it was just an LX. Does Canada have their own SI as a coupe?
Tell me what you don't like about yourself....

OK....Yes, the Si (Canada) does come with a moon roof as standard equipment.
The Acura line as most know doesn't exist in Japan (as well as Lexus and Infinity) but the names they use here are all based on market value. If you look around at the import cars in North America they're all starting to adopt Alpha-Numeric names....Like the 350Z (Fairlady Z in Japan). In fact all the Infinities have alpha-numeric I beleive.
They sit over there and laugh at us because we spend loads of extra $$$ for a stupid name...North America is all about Status...If you drive a Honda, you're middle to low income. If you drive an Acura, you're middle at worst...
I dunno...just an opinion.

Infiniti and Nissan have always used alpha numeric. Starting as far back as I can remember, as far back as Datsun. Then when the name officially changed to Nissan they started using actual names for their cars except for the Z since it had/has such a huge following. Infinitis first cars in the US were the Q45 and the M30.

Acura - CL 3.2, TL 3.2 NSX(ok not alpha numeric... but still)
Audi - A4, S8
Infinity - G20
Lexus - IS300
Porsche - 911(again not alpha numeric but still high end with numbers instead of a name)
BMW - M3
Mercedees Benz - E320

We have a ton of Civic models in Canada:
Sedan comes in DX, DX-G, LX and LX Sport
Coupe comes in DX, LX, Si and Si-G
Hatchback Comes in SiR only.
So if you see funny model names its probably a Canuck car

Yeah, I forgot the Veloz package.... Are they still offering that on the 2003's? I know they have all sorts of new skirts available but I think you have to get them from the dealer after purchase now. I could be wrong though.

One major reason the upper-end auto lines use alpha-numeric names is to get people to identify with the BRAND NAME, instead of just the model name.
Back in the day it used to be "I own the black Legend, over there"
Now it's more like "I own the black Acura TL, over there"
But it works. . . they've got people just resorting to saying the brand of car they drive rather than just the model name.

It's not a Civic. . . . it's a Honda 1.7 Type-S (The "s" stands for slow)

I really SHOULD rebuild my Member's Rides profile and upload some pictures. Maybe I'll do that as soon as I get home from work in about 1.5 hours.

Should probably start with the PMing before we're schooled by a mod for hijacking this thread.
