Best Deal on 2019 Civic Touring.....Beat the Dealer

General question here how much does dealer make on sale of 2019 Civic touring? If they sell at full MSRP? My dealer offered me the car for 24,800 but then when you add the TAVT of 1845.00, DOC fee of 700, and non tax fee $115 the total goes right back up to 27460.00 or close to MSRP! I have no experience negotiating a new car. I am also not pressed to buy now. Maybe I will get a better deal when 2020 models show up? When is that? I know I am shrewd and dont want any extras that they want to sell like paint protection, gps theft tracking, or flashing brake lights lol. I want no extras, no options, just the car. But I realize I cant get out of Ad Valorem, DOC fee or non tax fee I believe. Anyone with experience please help. I really want to pay 25500 total. Will I have to go down to EX or lower to get this? So confused.

Re: Best Deal on 2019 Civic Touring.....Beat the Dealer

I'm not much of a negotiator but a co worker of mine is. When he was looking for a new truck he found one out west for several thousand dollars cheaper then what local dealers were offering. He went to the local dealer and showed them the price of the truck and explained how he would still come out a few thousand ahead by the time he purchased a plane ticket and paid the gas (diesel) to drive it back. They blew him off and when he said okay and walked out they soon called him and agreed to the deal.

End of the year clearance is usually the best time because they want to make room for the new model years coming in. Don't be afraid to walk away and always deny the extra BS they try to sell you.

That being said I knowingly overpaid for my GTI. No regrets though because it's exactly what I wanted, was close, low mileage, was in excellent condition mechanically (first German car so very important to me) and just felt like it was mine. I connected with it lol
