NYC on april 18?? its good friday and so far me, heather, and becca are definately going... spending thurs night (maybe) at a hotel and all day friday just chillin... but me and heather have to work sat morning at 9 so this is the only day we can go... im gunna post this in the mid-atlantic forum too... maybe...


oh yea... not like we'll be driving in nyc... just carpooling and takin the train in...

honestly tho sivikchik...i dont know how much fun youll have on thursday in NYC...do you always work on saturdays? why not just come another weekend but fri-sun? i think more people would be able to join in for that. unless april 18 weekend is special for some reason, like a b-day

umm...it's the middle of the week...I wouldn't have expected people to be able to drive down especially from the Boston area. It's a 3+ hour drive from my place alone...if it were a weekend or something it would be different though.

Hey, chill out both of you. There's no sense bickering over a trivial thing as meeting up on a thursday in NYC - we can do it some other time when everyone can drive out, but not this time...

Michal, Good Friday is the Christian remembrance of the crucifixion of Jesus and related events. And it can't be 4+ hours because from Boston to Bridgeport it takes me under 3 hours. Now think of NYC as not even halfway to my house if you take the long way around, and you get another hour maybe (travelling around is the same travel time as taking a ferry so I go by that).

Danielle, honestly speaking I don't know of any college that has fridays off - I think it may just be a CT thing - or if you mean Good Friday off, then it's an option to take it off for individuals since it's a religious holiday - but most institutions choose to not recognize most holidays just on the basis of non-discrimination...that's why we have winter break and not Christmas break (for the most part of course ).

My $0.02 on this:

Danielle and I have it off from work because the financial world recognizes it as a holiday. The banks aren't open because the Federal Reserve is closed that day (aka no money being exchanged w/ banks and the Fed ). I have the day off because the stock market is closed and there is no trading on any US exchange that day (NYSE, NASDAQ, CBOT, AMEX, etc ).

As far as NYC goes, you know firsthand my love for that city....


And the comment about this forum being cool ( ) , I'm as cool as a day in July in the Arizona desert.....

As for Good Friday... Interesting. I learn something new every day. I gotta ask my Mom about that. She's the religious one even though we're all Catholics.

Hmm... Maybe if I mentioned that it's a religious holiday to my teachers they would have to go out of their way to ensure that I didn't miss anything important. Haha! That would suck. I wonder if it works that way? Hmm...

lol well it's definitely your right since they can't hold it against you that you want to observe a religious holiday that your religion adheres to If there was any issue, I'm sure you could take it up with your advisor or even your dean...

I wish I could go. I wanted to see what was left of the Twin Towers. I also wanted to eat some New York pizza. Or that Spaggo's ****, just add a ton of chilly and you're all set. I know of a few places to eat in NY too, not too expensive either. Hmm... I hope the weather is going to be nice for you guys. Nothing like today I hope. I mean, WTF!? Snow!? Bleh.

sunny but cold now will prolly snow this week tho, thats what the weather guy said... hopefully will be good weather for nyc...

and about fridays off from school... everyone i know takes class mon thru thurs w/ fridays off... i did the same when i was going full time... but i go mon thru thurs and work mon thru fri but i have that day off and id go sat but i have to work and i made the sat sched for my people 3 months ago... cant really change it now...

and im done... too bad u guys cant go tho... but IM SURE U WILL ALL MAKE IT DOWN FOR THE MANCHESTER HONDA CAR SHOWS THIS YEAR, RIGHT?! i'll put up a sched ASAP...
