Maine forest rally!!!!!!
sorry about the late notice, but this saterday, the seventh, is the maine forest rally up in Rumford Maine. Im working pit for a ford escort cosworth (still building the cage of my car at the moment) and i was wondering if anyone would be up to go with me and a friend of mine. you can go seprate, or you could hitch a ride with me (im not THAT bad of a driver! bwhahaha) its an event you wouldnt want to miss. besides the mt washington hill climb (which isnt being held this year) it is the closest rally for most of us around here. if you want to see lancer evo sevens, wrx's and every possible nasty rally car imaginable this is the event for you. it was voted the best rally in america last year and its a blast. i live in dover NH, an hour north of boston and have room for about 3 more people.
this could be one of those life changeing events that come once in a blue moon and is something you would always remember. i'll take some pics, but there is NOTHING like the real thing. let me know.....heres the site for the summer one, but you can find the link to the winter one on it http://www.maineforestrally.com/

Oh yeah, 10:00AM. Then there's one other start at 1:00PM. Well, technically I could start out from my house at about 6:00AM and make it. I guess you have to get there earlier though, huh? You're working the pit for one car though? That's k3wl. How many pit stops will there be during the rally?

6 AM? 6AM??? I don't think I've ever seen that early, well, except for those days that I've stayed up overnight
I don't know, Grey, thats a little early.... Although, it would be kinda neat to randomly go to Maine this weekend.... I'll have to think about this one..... ok! Im back from the wilderness, WHAT A BLAST!!! it was a horrible drive up there on friday night, but once we were there the rally went great. everyone crashed at least once. but nobody really wrecked there car.
thank god snow is so forgiveing. we had a couple of mishaps. we brought 2 audi 4000 quatros and a ford escort cosworth.
the cosworth had big problems. we blew a belt, but we repaired it with no issue. unfortunily the altanator blew too and forth gear was completely gone, so we need a new gearbox, thats going to be about 5000 bucks (cough cough)
the first audi did real well finishing around 10th, but also blew an altanator, but it was on the last stage and he made it back to service and the electrical system completely craped out as we were loading it on the trailer (good timeing, very lucky) he also had the dubious distinction of being the only rally car to actually find dirt underneeth all the snow and have it surgically implanted it into his front bumber.
the second audi on the second stage went into a ditch backwards and got stuck for an hour and a half until a sweep car picked them up. he broke a belt to, but I jury riged a smaller belt into place with a REALLY big hammer. nailing my finger in the process (i dont know what hurt more, putting a hammer to a beautiful car or my finger.)
all and all it was an awesome time and you guys should have come by. i was going to upload the in car cam of the cosworth but the tape didnt come out because of all the glare from the snow. all you see is a white blur and hear a lot of swearing from the driver
