Darkcivic's Return
What's up everyone! So as some of you know I am moving back to MA. The decision is final now, l will be back sometime in December, probably right at the end. I'm trying to decide whether to come before or after XMAS. If I stay here I won't be doing anything for the holiday anyway except getting ready to leave. It will be just me and the Civic for 3,000 miles- When I moved here a few years ago, I drove during January. I drove south first as to avoid bad weather, then west. My path went MA, NY, PA, MD, WV, VA, TN, AK, OK, TX, NM, AZ, CA. I was orginally going to drive this same route home seeing how it will be about the same time of year, but I really want to see other parts of the country, especially CO and UT. I know none of you know for sure, but do you think it's wise to go a more nothern route during this time of year? Or should I stick to the boring, flat, barren american south?

Nice sig (for starters)
My suggestion is to stick to mid to southern states due to the weather. I've driven thru UT and CO around this time and you don't want to get caught in any kind of snow.
I think CO is already getting snow. If it were me, I'd stick to the southern route and visit 7thgen members along the way. I believe there are more in the southern states than nothern ones..
Good luck!!
's on me when you get here.

I would probably stick to the south, as the snow is starting to come a little early this year for some of the US. THis way you won't hit any unprepared roads with snow on them and make the commute longer than it needs to be. Plus, it's going to sweet driving down south, windows open, music pumping, 75 degrees out, driving across country............ AHHHHHHHHHHHH I need to move down south!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DAMN WINTER!
BTW, welcome back, and hope to meet up with ya sometime.....

Well, I know that the major highways in CO are always open. I've lived there for a good chunk of my life; I remember that the roads there are very well maintained. Plus you've got some really nice scenary! Mountains are really nice. There's this one highway pass that's excellent. They built the damned thing without distirbing the natural environment at all. They even deviated the course of the road for trees! Cost them a helluva lot of money, but it was worth it. Maybe you could take that road? Anyway, where you going to live in MA? Do you guys have a place picked out yet, or what?

Thanks all! Unfortunately I still don't know which way to go. I'm no stranger to driving in the snow and I really want to go snowboarding in CO or UT. Hmmmm, what to do, what to do. The southern route is a few hundred miles longer so I think any delays from taking the north route would balance out anyway. I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer to see how the weather develops this year.
Blk4blk2k1- thanks man! You avatar freaks me out!
Havok- for sure, I can't wait to meet up with all you guys!
Grey- that's exactly why I want to see CO, I LOVE the mountains.

WOOHOO! Sweet that you're officially coming back...
Dude, you have to advise me, I'm in need of a snowboard, boots and bindings...I'm new at it, but I've been looking for a good first board...The House has a couple great package deals right now that I'm checking out...total packages at like 250-300 for everything...what do you think?

ids say take the middle...right throught the rockies!!!
i bet the scenery in the winter is awesome over there. if you take the south route you might get rain and all that crap, since thats what they get instead of snow.
maybe take the north or central route up to CO and Utah, and then drive down south and finish the journey through new orleans and FL and up the east coast. theres more to see there than in like the dakotas or ohio or minnesota. just a thought.
but welcome back to the east coast. its for the girl, isnt it??
...yeah...i know how it is.

Astro- I will be moving back to my birthplace, Worcester. This way I can bother Grey everytime I need something.
PBfoot- I think it will be worth it to take the mountain route, for sure, and yes, I am doing it for my girl. It may seen a bit extreme, but I KNOW this is the girl I am going to marry. Plus, I have always preferred drastic measures to reasonable ones.
I'm pumped to be able to hang with all you guys!

Cool prices! I checked out that side...but what the heezy??? I'm 5'7", and so the proper length as I understood should come up to between my chin and nose...that makes it approx. 130cm...all the boards are for kids! Am I just messing up the measurements?
