Knowing your braking limits meet...
So I have this idea to have a meet where we go down somewhere in an empty parking lot and try out our brakes. It's mostly for those people who don't have ABS, but the people with ABS can benefit from this too. We basically go out and accelerate to 60mph and try to stop in the shortest distance possible. We can have a start line and a start braking line and enough space after that for any unforseen situations. A long stretch of road would be ideal. A large parking lot would be okay as well. I can bring a tape measure and some chalk so that we can mark off the stopping distance.
Anyway, that's my idea. I think it would help us to know the limits of our braking systems. It might even prevent an accident or two if we actually learn to brake properly without locking up the brakes.
What do you guys think?

hjteq: I've got stock rotors and pads for sale! If you really need to get your rotors and/or pads replaced, then let me know...
TwilightX: Yep yep. Hopefully your car will be healthy soon. No time set yet, just want to get a feel for what people think of the idea...

Allright, looks like we have some interest. I will try to find a good place to do this at and I'll let you know...
BTW... If anyone has any ideas on the location, then speak up!

That sounds like fun, and i actually do that a lot in parking lots heheheh. I think I've developed a good amount of skill with braking. Anyhow. We should all get together and do something like that then go cruise around in a big group. Nothing cooler than seeing a pack of all the same kind of car. Even if they're just Civics : )

I think it's a good idea in theory, but where do you propose to do this??? I think it will be VERY difficult to find a place to do this though. 60 to 0 stops, all measured? In a parking lot? Where are you going to be able to get up to 60??? Deserted roads? Possible, but what about local residents? What about Police (roads) or security (parking lot). I would assume that they will frown upon 10 cars flooring it and then locking the brakes up......... I don't mean to be negative about it, I'm just trying to be a realist............
On a positive note, I would definately attend if a safe place is found. I would be able to record each person's run. Then when you are done with the run, I can play it back for you to see how it looked and help to provide feedback on how to better your distance / technique. The bail money you'll need if you get arrested doing it, you'll have to supply..............
