pics from New England Dragway Meet
hey guys here are most of the pics from last night.
I couldn't post all of them cuz some of them were too blury to see (last night was really cold and I was shivering like crazy)
first 4 pics are of us waiting at a rest stop

The next 2 pics are of the second place that we stopped at
here is where we met up with most of the people from Club SI

this was blk4blk2k1 racing a neon

and last one is one of a car that lost its hood 1/2 way down the track.
it was kinda cool actually!

let me know if you guys can't see the pics

Edit: Had to fix 2 pics

Just wanted to say it was nice meeting you at the rest area. I was driving the eclipse in the pictures. Where did you guys go at the track? No one could find you.
Did you see the focus that just sat there at the line totally clueless? Pure comedy

Nice to meet yout too. I'm the dude with the silver civic to the right of your eclipse. We were in the last set of bleachers. Me and Kevin and his buddies got our food and then we had a tough time finding Pedro and the gang. We finally found them in that last set of bleachers. 7thgencivic.com peepz and ClubSi.com peepz just kinda split up I guess? Oh well...
Yes, we saw the Focus who didn't have a clue. Then he like backed up and wanted to go against another guy. He's like, "No fair, I want to go again!". I saw him later on that night and he finally got his act together. Funny stuff though.

Nice car. I saw you off to the side of the lines entering NED. We were going to see if something was wrong but I had to keep with the flow of traffic. After we parked I was looking around for you and the other 7thgen guys but just ended up following a other club si guys around.
We were in the last bleacher too but I kept wandering around the pits. Afterward everyone regrouped at the texaco and headed to applebees for some late night dinner.
It was a fun time. I should be running my car in amonth or so after I fix my throttle position sensor and buy a new set of tires.

Yeah, I parked off to the side for a second 'cause I didn't have the money for the entry fee! I forgot my wallet at home! D'oh! Luckily Pedro was behind me and he lent me the $10 to watch. I paid him back already via PayPal. Oh yeah, now I remember. You guys were really close to us. You were a little further towards the christmas tree. We were more towards the end of the bleachers. Oh well, good stuff though! I loved watching. I'll probably love participating more though. If I get some more performance stuff on then I'll probably participate. We'll see, it all depends on how much money I can scrounge up.

Does anyone have any times they ran??
I would have loved to join the group but I work to at least 8 everynight. By the time I would have gotten there....
Let me know if you plan a weekend meet up there sometime.

it was nice meeting you too and the guys from Club SI.
I think that you guys were actually pretty close to us (next row over)
that focus was hilarious.
it ran 40 something. (now thatz bad)
and the anouncer was like "Here is a perfect example of what not to do"

I defenetly want to go back (when the weather is nice though)
how many of you guys are going to Import Wars?
I might go (haven't decided yet).
PCI:
are you gonna run your car next time you go?
Grey:
remember your wallet next time.
can you imagine if the cop that ran our plates was actually waiting up ahead....That would of been fun! j/k
does anyone know if its legal/enought to keep the police happy if you just have a copy of your license in your car?
I was thinking of doing that just incase I ever forgot my wallet.
well I'll talk to you all later

What's import wars? Where and when is that at?
Yeah, definately have to remember my wallet next time! I usually have it in my backpack that I take with me to my classes. I got rid of the backpack and I didn't think that my wallet would be in there. Weird. I don't think that a copy of your license would save your skin if the cop was really ticked off, but I think it would be allright if he was nice and you got pulled over for something stupid. Maybe no license plate up front, or a cracked taillight. You know, nothing major.

Right now the throttle position sensor [ possibly the o2 sensor as well ] is shot on my car. I ran it last october with the same problem and only managed to pull 15.9's in the 1/4.
When I get my taxes back it's going into the shop to have all the sensor problems fixed. Once that's done I will be running it again. With it running normal it should be around 15.0 in the 1/4. Mind you the car is bone stock as of yet. Should be fun though.
Import Wars: Saturday, June 1st 2002: Event: Import Wars
Time: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Notes: 2nd Annual Spring Parts Pro Sport Compact and Import Wars! Street Shootout... Pro Street Shootout... Street Tire and Slick Tire classes... Car ShowSport Compacts and Imports only - NO OPEN TEST SESSION, NO MOTORCYCLES.
Gates open at 8 AM. Spectators always welcome! Adults - $10, kids 11-15 - $5, kids 10 and under free
Sounds like fun, I went to one in october last year and as long as it doesn't rain it should be cool.

blk4blk2k1: I just posted the pics, I never said the outcome! hehe
plus you can blame the results of the neon race on me.
you can say that I blinded you with the flash and you couldn't see for a while. hehe j/k
don't feel bad, there was a car (i'm not sure if you saw it) the focus that just sat there that ran a time of 40 something. so you did better than that guy.

Yeah, it was nice meeting you guys. We definitely should meet up again when it gets warmer. I dont really function at 30 degree weather. I'm definitely gonna find a way to bring my ride up next time, even if I have to spend $50 to get a parking space near my job in Boston. Performance wise, it'll probably be stock, but I wanna race just to see what kinda times I can get. Otherwise, a BBQ like Blk4blk2k1 suggested would be cool too. And there always F1 Racing.
Me and my boy have the annual license so we can even set up weekend racing times if needed.

Krepoort: Yeah, you didn't seem to talkative. I bet you were frozen stiff, huh? Whoops!
TwilightX: Hey dude! I was the guy with the silver civic that followed you up to 495 North when we went home. Your taillights remind me of a corvette from far away! LOL I definately like them though, I think they're one of the better ones out there.
Blk4blk2k1: You think that with your header you'll do better? You'll have the I/H/E combination, but that might only net you upwards of 10 horsies. Hey, when you ran... How much was in the gas tank? Did you deflate the front tires slightly? How much do you weigh? How much extra weight (over stock) did you have in the car? Anything else that was different?

Thanks Grey: I now hae more excuses that I didn't think of...
I had 3/4 of a full tank, tires were not deflated slighted, I'm a fatazz and unfortunately I didn't have any extra weight; unless you count the couple of xtra sweatshirts my GF did not use.
I think with the I/H/E combo, I could get down to low 16's, not impressive to most..But I'd be happy with it...
I'm not out to race like most of these people you see...
The track is just something fun to do with friends... I'm mainly show with a pinch of go.
Show is still underway.

It's all good. I'm into making my civic as fast as it can be. It doesn't have to be the fastest car out there, it just has to be as fast as it can be. 3/4 tank of gas is a lot. Try it with 1/4 next time. I bet you'll shave off up to two tenths of a second. Then maybe another two tenths with the header ('cause it'll complete your exhaust system).

That Ford Focus was awesome on the track - I loved his second run...a nice slow easy start; but it was indeed better than his first run. Though I'm so green at the dragway scene, I'd probably do the same thing if I lined up

Well the 1st time, you get crazy butterflies in your stomach, but after that it's just plain fun...
After you shoot down the track and then circle around to get the time slip, all you're thinking is "damn, I can do better" and then you think about getting in line again.. (At least I did/do)
I would recommend giving it a try.

I'll take a stab:
1. Pay $ for entrance. Last year, on Wednesday's and Friday's, you also paid the extra $ to race at the same entrance. On weekends, this area is at the staging lanes across from tech inspect. They then give you a wristband and form to fill out.
2. Proceed to tech inspect. You'll need a) Driver's License b) Filled out Form and c) Wristband. Wait in line while other cars are inspected and it is your turn. Tech will then inspect the vehicle for (in the over 13.5ET times) a)working seat belts b) battery hold down c) coolant overflow tank (all newer cars have this) d) muffler(s). They also check to MAKE SURE you do not have nitrous. If you do, you will need a NHRA/IHRA approved blow-off tube which exits the vehicle. They ask you to open your hood and trunk, and check the vehicle for general condition. Finally, they make sure you are not leaking any fluids, as this will cause the track to become slick. Depending on the day, amount of people, conditions, and person inspecting, tech may be easy or very time consuming. When this is complete, they will put the famous shoe-polish numbers on your front, side, and back windows.
3. It's on to the staging lanes!!! These are located directly in front of the tech area. Lanes move in order, from left to right or vice versa, depending on the day. Sit patiently, preferably with the vehicle off. It may be over an hour between runs, so try and relax.
4. After the waiting, it will be your time to run the 1/4 mile. Again, the key is to RELAX and enjoy it. One tip here: Make sure your seat belt is on and your windows and sunroof are closed, since they will not let you run with them open.
I hope this helps someone when they decide to run their car. Forgive me if I have not included something or have stated something not current. Things at NED change every year, and I haven't been there yet this year.

see I think that this is why people get PlayStations and PlayStation2s in their car. so that you can play a game (like GT3 to get you in the racing mood) while they are waitting between runs.
When we went it was cold and it really wasn't all that nice out and there were a lot of people there.
I think that it took about 30-45 minutes of waiting in order to run. (maybe why the focus didn't want to go by himself ) I can only imagine what it will be like when the weather gets nice.
question:
does anyone know if it is less busy on wednesdays? cuz that might be a good time to go if you are just gonna run you car.
but if your going with a group of people than friday night is usually better.

hey, whats up, this is my very first post on this site, tho ive been reading posts for a while now, I was at the track last night, and i was jsut wondering who had the silver 4 door 2k1 with altezzas and what i <THINK> was nitrous in the trunk parked behind the bleachers by that orange lexis? very pretty cars, in fact all of the 2k1s i saw there were really classy so i guess big thanks go out to this site for steering people away from the dangers of riceafication
i had an allright time at the track ran a 16.5 with a .58 react and a 2.39 60' I wanted to run relitavity stock so i unplugged my vafc <more of a pain in the *** than you know!> and havent installed the NX kit yet, still sitting in our shop but all my systems should be up and running in the next few weeks or so. oh and a sidebar, for any NH peeps who want to drive up on wednesdays or fridays, we leave from our shop <Boost motorsport, dover NH> about 45 mins b4 racetime. i go up every wednesdays <work fridays
> and my boss goes up every time, just look for his green RX-7 up there, cant miss it. -peace and thanks for putting up with an overly long post
