Question Renting a Garage??

Does anybody know anything about this? I know there are places out there where you can rent a garage bay with a lift/underground type of thing to DIY work on your car. I can't seem to find them though. Anybody know of any places around CT or surrounding areas?

A few years ago I looked into this myself to do work on my Mustang. Changing transmissions, clutches, and rear ends in a driveway or on a lawn became quite a hassle (sp?). What I did was talk to a few local garages around my town and see what they would charge me to borrow their garage, lift, and access to an air compressor for a saturday or sunday afternoon. I knew some of the guys that owned the shops, some said no because of liability, some said sure and wanted to charge for renting the use. I think it was like $50-100 cash for an afternoon. I took one guy up on it and he ended up stopping by to open the place, and then hung around at the end since he was interested in Mustangs anyway.

It's a great help even putting on exhaust, suspension, etc. Talk to some places in person and you may be surprised what you find. Most garages have car guys always willing to help out another car guy.

That's what I'm probably going to try. Everything would be a lot easier if I could get access to a lift rather than using jack stands.

I figured liability would be a big issue with it too.

Thanks

Speaking of which... I'm plannin' to host an install-fest in a little while. On a similiar note, Maggie says we should have a pit in our garage (that is when we have a garage). You know, just drive over it and you can go down into it to work on the car from beneath. Sweet! I love my Maggie.
