Gulf Shores/Orange Beach Alabama?
I'm looking into Gulf Shores for spring break (last minute scrambling) with a friend, and I wanted to know if any of you have been there and can say anything good or bad?
We'd be camping cuz we're poor college kids, but we really just want a nice and relaxed vacation at the beach.
Comments anyone?

I live in Daphne, Al. which is not far from there. Yeah, it's pretty nice. The good thing is that if Gulf Shores isn't happenin' Your not to far from Pensacola, Mobile or Biloxi. Of course I haven't been down there (Gulf Shores) since Hurricane Ivan. They got hit pretty good.
I'm from this area originally, monkey.
I'd probably stay away from the area, as they're still building up from the hurricane last year that destroyed everything. At least that's what my relatives tell me....
But for future references, it's a very beautiful place to visit. For a nice chill place to relax, the Gulf Shores State Park is nice. It's Lake Shelby and you can picnic there (grill, whatever you want) and swim as well. But watch out for the alligators. Seriously. They also have a camping ground there since you mentioned the camping aspect.
Across the street is the main (public) beach. White sand beaches and emerald water. No boardwalk (like Ocean City, MD) though. A lot of the hotels were damaged in the hurricane last year, so I don't know how available those places will be. I know for a fact the State Park I was talking about was completely destroyed. I'm sure, though, they'll have these places back up for summer. How soon is the question?
PM me if you want and I can help ya out if you want to know more.
