Is a *Dead* 1998 Civic LX Worth Anything? (Milw, WI)
I started my wife's 1998 Civic LX over the weekend and on the first try, the timing belt broke. My Father is a retired mechanic and said the timing belt broke. He also told me that the Civic has an "interference" motor and that the valves could be damaged and one wouldn't know this w/o quite a bit of work (i.e. $$$$). If he wasn't retired, we'd attempt to fix it ourselves, but he is retired, so...
So, my wife and I have decided it's time to move-on to a newer car. Does a *dead* (but fixable) Civic have any value? Anyone in south eastern Wisconsin interested in it? Since we're not getting it repaired, any interested party would have to find a way to get it home (I.e., tow it.)
It's a forest green 4-Door with beige interior with ~130,000 miles. I'd describe it as being in *fair* condition; it has a few small dents. It's been a very reliable car up until now... it's my own dumb fault for not getting the timing belt changed
