I propose a first annual meet.....
I thought I'd throw this out there and see what kind of interest there is.
Basically I know of some pretty awesome scenic areas by me, as well as some twisty curving roads. Thought maybe a nice meet and maybe an out door BBQ would be a good idea. I'd be willing to spearhead the meet if anyone else wanted to help. I think mostly civics would be preferred.
So basically, anyone have any interest in this? I was thinking some time in may or june. Get together, do some great driving, maybe down by the lake front. Then head to a local park for a BBQ. Then head up to the holy hill area, and get some great scenery, awesome back country curving roads, and a chance for some awesome pictures. My girlfriend is also a professional photographer (she has like a $5,000 camera) and would probably be willing to take some professional shots or something. Here's a few pics I took from a small S2k meet in the area I'm talking about.
by the way, yes that is THE mugen S2000 on the right

I bet its at least 7500 to rent it for the day... we'd need like 50 people to pull it off for something reasonable.
If its around Milwaukee and its big, I'll be down for driving up. If it starts getting farther north or farther west OR its like 7 people... its unlikely that I'll do it.

Is anyone opposed to meeting in June for the Power Tour? It runs from Milwaukee to Daytona from like the 3rd of June to the 9th. I'll get more info. My project ride is slated to be done by the 6th of June when it comes to Indianapolis.
If you can find information on it, I'll be around. I might go to the one in Illinois(cuz I used to live in Geneva) and ride through to the site after Indianapolis(two days later).
I think this would be the ultimate meet up. Not only will we all be there, but everyone who has a hot car will be in the area those days.
Just thought I'd throw that in.

I dont know the miles but it would be a hell of a ride from cleveland. i drove to N.Y a few months ago and just getting to cleveland took forever. to give you an idea its about 21/2 hrs from the meet in shaumberg.

^^ if anyone from STL goes they can meet up w/ us and we can all drive together..
mapquest says Milwaukee is 225 miles from here..
man if we all timed this right, we could have STL members come to champaign, then Steve and I tag along (Ed too if he's interested) then when we get up to Chicago, we can meet up w/u guys.. we could easily have a 20+ car cruise from chicago to milwaukee.
FYI: mapquest says Milwaukee is ~382miles from STL.

milwaukee is about 6 hours from cincinatti, OH, for the person who was asking.
anyways. this was my thought. We could have the meet up here in the milwaukee area. I know some great places for pictures, and spirited driving opportunities (nothing too agressive, since they are public roads).
For people who want a hotel for saturday night, I figure i can find an inexpensive, yet decent place. (40 a night i think?)
So we could start a pre-party on friday for those who are around. Saturday morning we could do car washing/detailing. Then have a lunch somewhere. Then we can drive to a location like holy hill, get a chance for some nice scenery, good back roads, and some photo opportunities. Then hit up some place else for dinner. Then maybe have a few hotel room parties at night for those who are staying. Or even hit the infamous hwy100 for those who have never seen it. Then sunday morning just a final group meeting and then people can say bye and be on their way.
I really dont think I'd be able to get any sponsorships or anything, so for the lunches and dinners everyone would probably just have to chip in the cost of their own meal.
Any weekend in May works for me.

ok since i'm kinda throwing this together, it's not going to be an "official" meet where you pay registration, etc.
However, once we get an affirmed number of people, I can reserve a block of hotel rooms at a local motel with some good rates.
the only bad thing about the weekend of may 27th is that is memorial day weekend. lots of people make plans and take vacations.
