Want new exhaust

I'm looking to invest in a new exhaust kit, the full system including headers. I don't want anything too loud, and would like to have a lower (low as possible for our 4 bangers) note associated with it. Anyone have any ideas as to what a good purchase would be?

Re: Want new exhaust

if you want a low tone leave the cat in. theres no need to remove it unless its a track or race car.

i personally love my yonaka exhaust. basically a knock off apexi ws2 and only $240.

and headers? you mean header. we have only one. i have a megan racing header on my car and its okay but with any near stock d16 any header will do just fine. although if you want quiet leave the stock exhaust manifold as you wont really gain much from a header.

this video has stock header and cat. just the yonaka catback bolted up to it. to give you an idea the link in my sig is my yonaka with megan header and no cat. i have since added a magnaflow cat and sounds much better but same noise level. just gets rid of the annoying raspyness.

the tone is slightly different, i personally like it better, but sound level wise on a budget its as close as your gonna get.

however the ws2 would be better if youve got the cash. apexi's quality is amazing.

heres an si (so dohc b16 instead of a d16) with header and test pipe.

Re: Want new exhaust

+1 on Yonaka. I have one on a Megan test pipe and DC headers and it runs well, the sound is low-pitched, and it's discreet. Like in pwnsauce's video, mine is pretty low, but with the header and test pipe it's got more snarl to it, and I don't get that fluttery noise when I shut the car off.

Re: Want new exhaust

Apexi WS2 hands down. Sounds amazing.

If you don't want to shell out the full $700 for the Apexi catback, you can do a few things get a similar product for cheaper.

1) Buy an Apexi WS2 muffler and Magnaflow resonator. Take it to an exhaust shop, and have them weld up piping. Won't be stainless steel though, and piping will most likely be crush-bent, not mandrel bent.

2) Buy Apexi WS2 muffler and cheap fart can sounding $100 stainless steel catback exhaust from ebay. Have a shop chop off the fart can, and weld up the WS2 instead. Stainless steel, and mandrel bends for durability and better flow.

most exhaust shops will charge you a pretty penny for even just little work. it cost me $120 to get a new muffler welded onto my old catback. then when i got the cat welded into my yonaka it was another $140. unless they have better deals for doing a full exhaust then i would think total cost would be more than what you could find a nice used ws2 for anyways, that would be stainless and mandrel bent. i say thats probly your best bet if you wanna go that route, or invest in a welder.
