97 LX exhaust system nightmare!
97 LX exhaust system nightmare!
I ordered replacement pipe/muffler for my LX on autopartswarehouse.com a
month ago because the exhaust pipe have rusted apart. I tried attaching the
replacement pipe but there's an 18 inch gap between the downpipe and the
replacement pipe. I have a stock ex catalytic converter because I thought that
the cat was what I needed but I recently found out that the lx model already has
the cat bolted on the manifold.
I'm not so sure as what to do right now. Should I
order a cheap ebay test pipe or what? I need/want to fix this up ASAP!
Currently driving a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor and it's eating gas like crazy!
PS. I'm just an amateur trying to learn more/save money!

Re: 97 LX exhaust system nightmare!
Does the exhaust have a 2 bolt or 3 bolt flange if it is 3 you received the ex exhaust were the cat is located after the exhaust manifold. Assuming you have the ex exhaust yes a ex manifold will work but you will need to relocate the lower o2 sensor to the location of the ex cat.
also when looking for a ex manifold the 96-98 will have the upper o2 sensor in the same location as your lx and the 99-00 you will have to relocate the upper o2 sensor as well down by the flange were the manifold connects to the cat.
