Hey guys, new to the forum... always read up on threads but first time actually posting one.

Owned a 90 civic hatch, and currently have a 98 hatch... bone stock.

Going to look at a 1999 Honda Civic SiR (Canada) this week (equivalent to the U.S Si, except ABS, and heater mirrors) My question is, how can you tell its a real SiR? It has a b16a2 and matching tranny in it, SIR interior, SIR spoiler, all power options ect that would be stock for a SIR. I have seen many converted to look like the SiR model for sale and want to make sure this is actually a real SiR. This is what the listing says word for word :

"its time to let my sir go..love it but need somthing 4 door . car is mint no rust,motor runs great b16a2,aem cold air intake,type r cams,type r springs and retainers,dc sports header,tokiko blue struts and tein s tech lowering springs(not installed) power windows.locks,sunroof,interior is mint non smoker ,b&m short shifter,dc sports shift ****..open to offers..car needs nothing for safty"

Is the best way of telling a true SiR by vin? Vehicle Registration? What are your guys thoughts? And have any of you bought a clone thinking it was a real SiR/Si?

the way to determine if its a real Si is if it has EM1 in the vin number. check all the vin numbers, the one on ur dash, theres one in the trunk also, and one when u open ur door. check all of them to make sure they match
