AE101 On Ebay + Inital D car...
There's an AE101 on ebay, it's at like 380 something right now for the whole front clip. For those initial D lovers out there... you know what this means.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2419518700
The AE101 listed here, Is a DOHC 20 Valve 1.6 Liter 4 Cylinder Engine...
So... that's first off 5 valves per cylinder...pretty sweet.
Second 165 HP at 7400 RPM...
Anyone know how hard it would be to Throw this engine into one of our cars (even though it'd be illegal because of that stupid emissions law dealing with old engines in new cars)I know it would be an identity crisis... but what the hey.
Second... for anyone wanting to spend 7K you can have your very own Initial D Trueno

I think Initial D made this old car a legend.

I feel privlidged that I got the first post out of you Nosser...
It's still pretty crazy that it has 5 valves per cylinder, I don't know off hand any other engine that does.

I know there are other carmakers that do so also but can't think of any off the top of my head right now.

The new (2002+) VR6 engines are 4/cylinder, the old one was 2/cylinder. They figured out how to build the head so the intake cam controlled all of the intake valves, and the exhaust cam controlled all the exhaust valves despite the offset cylinders. They came up with some fancy rockers that are crossed over each other, and the cams run offset from the centerline of the head. So it's technically an SOHC engine, since it's a V block, but its DOHC in operation.
The W8 is als 4/cyl for the same reason as the VR6, but the W8 has 2 sets of cams (its a 72 degree V)
The VW 2.0L is still an 8 valve.
I think all the rest of them are 5/cyl.
The Ferrari 3.6L V8 (360 Modena) is a 40 Valve engine.
I think the Lamborghini V12 is a 60 Valve.
On the stranger side... Mercedes engines are 3 valves/Cylinder.. 2 intake, 1 exhaust.
The reason they do it is because 3 smaller intake valves have an area that is larger than 2 larger ones that take up the same space. More air gets in... more go power.
