Volant Cool Air Intake

anyone see this before or have this intake. looks like the comptech icebox intake system. a bit pricey but it is different and looks like it would be more efficeint than the k&n FIPK.

i like this intake because it is made out of the same material(looks like it anyway) as the k&n FIPK but the filter is closed off and it extends down further away from the heat of the engine. looks like it will work with generic style strut bars too because of the flat top instead of the 90* angle. it is like a mix of the injen SRI, the k&n FIPK, and a comptech intake.

ho, neat.

but er... the pipping doesn't extend that far down enough me thinks...

would work better if its aim at other location perhaps?

I did not expect another intake out in the market at all.

i wonder what kind of filter is inside though. cone filter or flat...

expensive like heck though.

I was thinking of customizing a box for a SRI... but yeah I'm lazy. lol.

looks nice. quality's there.

looks like they R&D on a DX or LX.

not sure if there's any auto/manual complications...

looks like they got a horrible marketing team though, cuz we haven't heard about this at all. heh.

it seems that they mostly focus on SUV/Trucks/Vans...

Wow! That looks VERY high quality. 300 bucks is too much for an intake though IMO.

i doubt you will get hydrolock. notice where it extends down, that sits right on top of the wheel well. no water will get in there

Looks Cool!

I like the fact that it is made of plastic or whatever and not metal..I think anyway.

Also, It looks like it uses a flat filter like the oem style at the top of that resonator. Doesn't look like it extends down very far and almost like a cone filter would end up right next to the header and downpipe..LOL

May offer some hp w/o sacrificing the low-end so much due to the resonator box...I'd be interested in a graph and knowing exactly whaty type of filter it uses and exactly where that pipe inlet is positioned in the bay.

Looks like a oem style filter in a smaller resonator to me though...Neat though..

Oh, and GOT-TOE-MOSES!!!!!!!!! $300 bucks!!!!!!!!!!! That thang better make at least 4hp..

no I'm pretty sure there's a cone filter in there.. kinda like the comptech ice box.

check out volant's website and u can see that their other designs consist of a cone filter basically surrounded by a box with an inlet...

Hmm...I wonder how far that pipe does extend then. Seems like it would really be exposed to the weather...but maybe not..Isnt' the aem filter in that area as well? Heck, I don't know, but it looks neat imo.

The hole (or the bootom of the tube) looks like it sits where the AEM filter sits.... But yeah, it basically an SRI with a heat shield that toatally encloses it, then adds the extra pipe to suck colder air, and yes it has a cone filter in the box.

this is kinda off topic, but has anyone heard of cold air intakes making sounds like a blow off valve? you kno when you roll next to a car with turbo and he switches gears.. and while releasing clutch you hear the blow off valve go pSsshhhh... yah.. sivion's civic has an AEM CAI and i guess it basically makes that sound.. i asked a guy at a shop about it and he said you can tune your intake to make the sound.. while sivion said he bought it specially with a "with horn" marking on the box? has anyone heard of such a thing? thnx

yea, i seen a ad in the back of SCC and it was a fake blowoff valve, it makes that turbo sound (whoosh), it was like 100 bucks or some shi, waste of money to have that, and when someone spanks your *** with a moded civic or something, they are going to be like wtf, i thought you had a turbo, then you look like a jackass

no no.. that's like just a horn type thing.. i've seen that too.. (i think) but, the thing i'm actually talking about is the actual INTAKE making the sound.. not like a seperate piece or anything.. but yah..

I was thinking you might be able to extend the tube longer by adding PVC pipe or something to really get colder air. Or is that ghetto? I know $300 is a lot but I'm not going to spend that much on my car anyways so I will splurge on this. I'll put up pics when I install it. It won't be for a couple weeks though b/c I gotta pay rent first.

Hey YS does that intake come with a bypass valve or do you even have to worry about water?
