Type R Pro Crank Pulley Civic 2001

Does AEM make the Crank Pulley for our Civics or is this a B/S ad?

AEM does not make this crank pulley. That dirty cheating e-bay seller just put that in the title of his auction so that when people searched for "Aem" his item would come up.

Is the Unorthodox pulley any good. Actually, could someone post which ones will work with the AEM True Power Pulleys? I plan on getting them but want to make sure the under crank will match the belts that come with the AEM Pulleys. That little bit of information will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance....

If you looked at the auction, it doesn't say it is unorthodox. The Unorthodox pulley is also much more expensive. Another company makes a crank pulley, Hmm i forget who it was or what people said about it. Search.

unorthodox is supposedly better than aem but is way more expensive. I have the aem power pulley set and I am looking at getting an unorthodox crank. To answer the question you can mix and match brands. They are pretty much all the same.

AEM comes with two pulleys and Unorthodox comes with three (the third being the crank). However, Unorthodox is much more expensive. The belts that come with AEM pulleys are designed to fit with the AEM pulleys and the OEM crank pulley. AEM recommends that you do not replace the crank pulley. If you go with the Unorthodox, you're basically paying the extra money for the crank. I also wouldn't advise mixing and matching pulleys. I'm sure the manufacturers put lots of R&D into making their product work best with all the pulleys from their set.

i heard that the crank pulley is bad for your engine. im sure that most of the mods are not great for the engine, but the crank pulley is supposed to greatly reduce engine life. is that b.s. or is that true.

i have the aem pulley set, w/o crank pulley, havent installed it yet though.

If the crank pulley is balanced and made properly, it shouldn't have an adverse effect on engine life. The usual mods (i/h/e) have no negative effect on engine life.
