intake manifold

I've seen people with the focuz custom intake manifold, what are the benifits of it. is it better then just the CAI. Does it just bolt on or does it replace anything? Any help would be great.

One benefit to the intake manifold is that it'll make bolt ons work.

What do you mean it will make bolt ons work??? the CAI goes directly in the manifold, now how would that be any better. I would think it would be the same because it is just an extention it self, not a replacement manifold???

Gude performance has one for our cars. Theirs is not listed on their website but I called to see what they really had and they had as follows.

Port & Polished Head: $950
Cam Shaft: $292.50
Throttle Body: $275
Intake Manifold: $150
Making a 7th Gen halfway fast: Priceless (I had to do it)

Those are the prices they gave me.

The whole package would be $1650 Regular
$1450 on Holiday Special

Oh, and they have a turbo kit for $2365

There are some threads about Gude and 7th gen Civics. I believe a couple of members tried their stuff. Don't know if they ever got their problems resolved or not.

is the orientation any diff on the after market manifolds. like moving the throttle body off to the side to allow for a possible supercharger in future?

I think the Gude intake manifold is only a P&P of the stock ABS plastic intake manifold though.
That Focuz manifold isn't half bad. No more weird strut bar / intake conflicts!
Plus is look like it'll work. Lots of custom work to move the TB though. Lengthening of hoses, lengthening of cables. Or maybe just relocation. Price isn't bad though.

I'd take the throttle body and intake manifold at those prices. Well, when I get some money...

I don't think that Gude could screw those up but I don't think it is worth the risk.

A matched intake, exhaust and throttle body with some ECU mods would go a long ways toward some good performance, for sure.

Stay away from gude, their products suck. I have had nothing but problems with my gude head, and they wont even help try and fix it. I called them to find out the lift and duration numbers on the cam that they gave me with the head package, and they told me that in order to find that out, they would have to regrind a whole new cam and im like WTF, they should know these numbers right off the bat even before touching machinery tools. Also, I asked them about an intake manifold and they said there isnt one out for our cars because its plastic and if you tried to machine plastic, it would just melt and that the price of the P&P package would go drastically up if they incorporated a new intake manifold so you dont get one with their package. I have had dyno's done before and after the head package and I lost 12 hp and 9lbs of torque. I know its because its not tuned right but Gude wont help me on it and they suck as a company. Also, the one time my mechanic called them they told him to advance the cam one tooth which is like 12-15 degrees and when we did that, the car didnt even run. Potential buyers beware, if you like throwing $2100 away and lose power go for it.

Wait! This is like a dream come true. I have a custom intake manifold, but I would like to purchase another one if it is made by a company for our car. The one link says the focus intake stops at 2000 civic. So where does it say for 2001 and on? Anyone have a number or link to where they got theres or of where I can get one?

It's probably be easier to adapt a 5th or 6th gen dx/lx manifold since those also have the TB facing up. If you could get the TB to face sideways, like grey said, that would solve a lot of problems

I have a custom intake manifold with the throttle body facing sideways. It isn't to flashy. I need to get it powder coated. We mounted some of the brackets different like the throttle cables for example and extended some of the hoses. I might just get a fancy polished venom intake manifold and cut the flange off the end and mount it to our metal one with injector holes already in it. That is what we used to make the custom one with.

Does any one know the size of out throttle bodies. And what would be a good size to upgrade to?

I don't realy feel a difference with the intake manifold from the stock one. They say the stock one was for torque, but with my turbo it is hard to tell a difference.
