Rep Power: 0 AEM 1/4 Mile Times - may interest you
Went out to the local dragstrip last night. Here's some info for all of you who are considering an AEM intake...
I have a 2001 Acura 1.7EL
Stock air-box, magnaflow catback:
Best Time: 17.010 @ 82mph
AEM CAI, magnaflow catback:
Best Time: 16.650 @ 85mph
Not a big difference but definitely noticeable.
Highlight of the night: Some young chick was racing a 2001 Mustang GT. Her last run of the night, she's up against a late model Z-28. The Camaro takes her off the line - she gave it too much gas, spinning the wheels in first. She shifts into second, again more wheelspin but her back end swings out. Rather than let off the throttle, she keeps it floored and countersteers. Guess what happens - she crosses into the other lane and slams into the concrete barrier. Totally f!cked up the driver's side - clips off the mirror and trashes the front quarter and door...

Rep Power: 0 The driver of the 'stang wasn't hurt - just shaken up. Damn, I sure would be if I scrapped the side of my car like that.
I'm installing an NX nitrous kit either this month or in the spring - I'll post my new times then. I'm hoping I can get into the low 15's with nitrous...

Rep Power: 0 I always take my subwoofer box out when I go drag racing - it weighs about 50 pounds or so. The entire interior surface of my trunk (including the floor) is soundproofed. That adds about 30lbs. I did some calculations, and honestly 30lbs translates into about 0.030 seconds in the quarter - so BIG F'in deal. I've posted 2 pics of my trunk with the carpet removed. I took em' while I soundproofed it. I used a product called MiniGARD Pro - aka poor-mans Dynamat.
Actually, I raced a guy with a 1.7EL as well. He had similar mods, but had a DC header. Only difference was that his ENTIRE car was BARE metal on the inside. No dash, no interior trim. (IMO that's stupid, especially on a "semi-luxury" car like the 1.7EL. If you have a turbocharged, intercooled, nitrous-burning Honda civic, then props - but this guy was a poser). Anyhow, he only beat me by about 0.25 seconds.
