Megan Header
Megan Header
Howzit. A few days after installing my new Megan stainless header, its starting to change to a dark bronze color. Is that normal? Can I get the shine back, or is that a permanent thing? Thanks.
Re: Megan Header
Howzit. Thank you for your reply. I like the Megans. It was a good deal on ebay and its genuine Megan. As far as performance, its been said that the stage 1 cam, I/H/E will yield the best results, and I can definitely FEEL the difference. The car does sound diffrent as compared to the stock exhaust header ( I already had a 2.25" catback before I installed the cam and header) also the header bolted up perfectly with the included new gaskets. I was considering DC but the Megans had larger diameter piping and the price tipped the scale. I'm sure the DC is a nice header with the powder coating, but if I had to buy another header I would go back to Megan. I also still have my stock cat, but if you're going cat delete, then I would try DC two piece 4-2-1. Be careful when removing the nuts and bolts especially the nut under the PS pump. I managed to round the nut on that one. Could be easier if you removed the PS pump first to prevent from rounding that nut. You may or may not have to remove the PS pump mount to make sure you have enough room for a straight shot.

Re: Megan Header
You ever think about getting a high flow cat?

Re: Megan Header
Cool set up. did you notice any power gains and is it worth the extra $$$?Theres this guy who sold his because he said it was too loud, but it was on an 8th gen SI. I'm running an injen SRI, Megan header, stock cat, custom bent 2.25" catback and Borla muffler. I liked the way it sounds not loud even with the resonator removed. I wanted the Tanabe Touring Medallion, but I couldn't wait 4-6 weeks.

Re: Megan Header
Everyone's different right, some guys say they can't stand the vibration from es motor mounts but I don't mind it one bit, mods are all about personal taste. Before upgrading to a high flow cat get a midpipe welded up.
Re: Megan Header
How long has that Random Tech lasted you? I started a thread about this a few weeks ago ( "Advice on installing DC Sports 4-2-1"), and decided to go with the DC 4-1 Header, 05 EX Pipe/Cat, attach to the 2.5 custom pipe/HKS Muffler I've got now. Before it was stock LX header/cat. I considered putting in a hi-flow cat, or getting one of the 1 piece cats like that Random Tech or a Magnaflow, but the consensus in the thread was that most hi-flows wouldn't match the life/quality of the OEM cat. Paid a good $650 or so for that OEM EX cat.
