AEM pulley kit
Hi guys ,
I was wondering if any of ya'll had a aem pulley kit. I was going to get one but the question is will it help any. The rumors iv'e heard is that it is less stress on the motor and it will quicken the rev response on my car. I also read that it will give me 3 to 4 more horses. I wanted to know if any of my fellow civiv owners had any helpful input. Any opinions will help me decide.

Rep Power: 0 i heard it was useless and doesn't work for SOHC motors and that we're all wasting our money if we buy it, but people do it anyways to lengthen their mod list

Rep Power: 0 not true; the pulleys take the power away from your alternater and power steering and bring it back to the wheels;
setbacks: not good for powerfull audio systems and a little harder 2 steer at a stand still

Rep Power: 0 cam gears are nice if you have an aftermarket cam.. i wouldn't mess with'em otherwise. and as far as pulleys go.. yeah... you do get extra hp from them.. it's almost as effective as removing your ac ( or just the belt ) and ripping out your powersteering.

Rep Power: 0 AEM Underdrive pulleys help with the hp all through the pawer band...from 1rpm to red line. It increases torque and hp, 3-5 hp, and a couple lbs of torque. it is noticable but wont make your car hit blistering speeds where you are pinned to your seat so much you lose bowel control.

Rep Power: 0 personally I think pulleys are a waste imho, you can spend the cash on more lucrative modifications.... 3-4 horses is not really worth it when I have a system and I like my a/c cold when i'm sitting in traffic not moving

Rep Power: 0 yeah, that "do a search" crap gets old when someone is just simply trying to get opinions. and quit with the "newbs" bs.. the little jr. member thing means you joined this forum recently.. doesn't mean you're brand new to the import scene.. or to cars all together. i grew up around hotrods.. and own my own shop... i've been READING from this forum for a longer time than some of the senior members.. i just don't feel a need to always reply and spend 3-4 hours a day on here. so.. let's all just chill and use this for what it's here for.

Rep Power: 0 For the money you pay for AEM pullys kit, it isnt worth it, the difference isnt great. If you want a real pully set, get unorthadox. You may see some gains after you install those.
