Post Changing stock filter change sound?

Does changing the stock air filter to lets say a K&N filter, change the sound of the car?

Is it worth the 50 bucks for the filter?

no it doesn't change the sound, it just increases airflow which is better for performance and gas mileage...

what changes the sound is if you remove the resonator...

if you have the stock airbox, get a paper napa gold filter. K&N isn't all that great at filtering.

gains are minimal, maybe 1 or 2 hp at best.... but you'll get a nice sound out of it..

please read the reviews on the aem v2, the reviews are not that good. i have a k&n typhoon short ram, and i would suggest it over the aem. minimal gains but great sound.

the typhoon beats all aem intakes and the K&N fipk. typhoon only gives 1-2whp but increases torque alot more. i've tried 3 and the typhoon is best so far. next is weapon-r for me.

honestly, the v2 design is not any different. its a big pipe connected to a smaller pipe. its still just a pipe with a regular filter, no special technology. when they start actually bench testing their designs i'll give them more respect. i have tried alot of aem products and really they are hanging by their name. all their stuff sucks. the only aem part still on my car is the power steering pulley (the alt pulley killed my alternator so left it off).

I know AEM sells its name mostly, but I have the V2 and its a great intake and the car feels a lot more responsive. I've experienced AEM short ram and an Injen CAI on my friends vic and the V2, imo, its better. I have the AEM pulleys and they are great, you feel the difference for example wih your a/c on.
:edit:Is'nt the two different piping sizing new to intake technology? Also the filter is a lot bigger than a regular one.
