Oem Resonator

Okay, there is a resonator located just infront of the muffler, im sure you all know the one im talking about. Has anyone removed it and put in a straight pipe? Or removed it and put in a non-baffeled resonator? If so, what does it sound like? Is it a lot louder? Does it sound good? Any gains in performance? Thanks. I dont want my car to be loud but i want some sound out of it. My previous car was a Supercharged Bonneville. I had removed the catalytic converter and ran a 3 foot resonator and then put flowmasters on the back. Also had a custom made intake. Nothign sounds better then a cold air intake on a supercharged car. I turned soo many heads with the Whine from the supercharger, it was awsome i miss that.

it will sound like garbage without a resonator (whatever that is right haha). but it will be very hi pitched and raspy. I have an rsr exhaust and it comes with no resonator, just pipes and muffler. but it sounds great nice and low toned. so i guess it could depend on the muffler. Most exhaust is designed to work with a resonator tho...

I'de have to disagree, I removed oem muffler and resignator and installed a 3A racing muffler, it sounded deep and wasn't to loud.

ditch the stock resonater and get a bullet style resonator. 2.5 inch piping into that. I got it with my Hks ti carbon. sounds very nice, a bit loud at high way speed though. its sorta gurgly. sounds almost like sex for the ears!

if you're gonna do you're exhaust. Heres what i sugest. Kamikazie header, Custom down pipe made from 2 or 2 1/4 304 stainless, Random technology high flow cat, 1 1\2 or 1 3\4 304 stainless from cat all the way back, Dezod resignator, You're choice of muffler. You will have great flow you'll gain a good amount of top end but best of all you'll loose no backpressure, backpressure = low end torque
