I-H-E Questions

I've been reading a lot of threads the past couple of days and haven't found what im looking for. Im looking at getting an intake, headers, downpipe, high flow cat and cat-back exhaust. I've read a lot of different views on how the parts perform and some people saying you get barely any gain. I know I want to get a V2 intake but I was looking for suggestions on the others. I also wanted to know what the gains might be on each part and possibly on the entire set up. (I was hoping to get around 40-50hp but I have no idea if thats even possible.) I was also wondering about the headers set up. Like with a new high flow cat and if I would need new downpipes or if they would be worthless to get. Thanks.

10 whp is pretty damn good, but i would say 5 whp at most is more realistic.

all intakes are a pipe and a filter, just get one. they're not going to do anything for your car performance wise.

header, go with either kamikazi or HP, you might need a downpipe if you don't have aftermarket exhaust. again, waste of money.

exhaust, meh, it might sound good but that's about all it will do for you. waste of money.

so you're looking at about $800 for a mere 5 whp, think about it.

OH YEAH, SEARCH

I think 10 hp is a realistic number with I/H/E.

Anyways for 40-50 hp your going to have to look into nitrous or turbo. Search the FAQ in the forced induction section of the forums for more info on those. If you have nitrous specific questions just PM me. Some members have been in the 170-185 hp range with nitrous to the wheels. If you got some cash, theres turbo or K20 swap.

I dont know much about cars but im still confused about the hp gains. On the AEM site they say that the V2 gives 5.5 hp and I read that one of the headers gave 8-12 hp. Can someone please explain how these can be true. And thanks for all the replies.

Those ads were probably "up to x hp" or something, maybe on a different car. I think the V2 gives a max gain of 5.5hp at an isolated rpm (5500?), i dont think it increases your max hp by that much, maybe 2-3. Supposedly it sounds nice though, i dunna.

i would highly recommend kamikaze header in ceramic from www.bigjoshracing.com and a K&N typhoon short ram intake. I'm also gettin the RSR exhaust pretty soon. But ya here is my dyno of the intake before/after. Gives more low end and almost no top end. The blue is after the intake was installed
