i already have the OBX type-r cat back exhaust but my friend just got the Buddy Club Spec II cat back on his usdm type-r. he did have the R1 axleback so he gave that to me. do you think it would be worth my time and money to weld it onto my existing exhaust. im wanting to do this b/c i love the n1 style so much more.
question 1. how much will the sound change?
question 2. is r1 a good company?
question 3. how much do you think it will cost?
thanks,
chris

put it on. i had a friend with that muffler and it didnt sound too bad. to weld on a muffler is probably about close to a 100 bucks?? maybe not. i think it should be a little over 60 bucks. someone correct me on that one.

jttegx has a spectacular aura aboutjttegx has a spectacular aura about
1) axle back/rear section doesnt change alot. but its noticeable. more likely louder than what a muffler could do.

2) r1 seems generic to me. but i think there company that makes universal mufflers/products if i remember. not sure about quality of r1

3) as for welding, im not sure if the pipe after the muffler would fit onto the 7thgen without bending. most likely the shop will want to charge for chopping the muffler off, and weld on a new rear section pipe that fits on your 7thgen. welding mufflers range from $20-50 at most. and prob a little more for a rear section pipe.

IMO, if the existing axle back/rear section doesnt fit, forget it. unless you really like that muffler. but remember, it may sound nice on a type-r, but that doesnt mean it will on a civic.

haha....that is so true. so many people think "we he's got it....i want it" and think it'll be the same. haha

i appreciate all 2 replys but they were helpful. im just worried that i'll loose the sound quality b/c i always have people saying how much they love how it sounds...(nice and deep/no popping) i want to JUST switch the mufflers...not the rest of the exhaust.
